Early PIPs

I thought PIPs are always handed out after performance review meetings, and yet I've heard of a few folks being put on PIPs recently. How is this possible?

They might have just completed their rankings and handing out the PIPS early.

Usually a Supervisor waits to PIP the one that she hates during ranking so she does not have to PIP any more than the 5% commanded to PIP.

An off cycle PIP would likely be a demand from higher up the management chain targeting an individual for a specific reason.

If you don’t comply to ur managers moods and whims, he gathers a bunch of information from ur team mates to use against you for a PIP.

It’s an awful environment.

Off cycle PIPs do happen but are rare and have to be heavily justified to management. Supervisors can’t just put someone on a PIP without voluminous documentation and second changes

This year they are handing out PIPs early. Must be to accommodate Pioneer.

I feel for you guys. I have never worked at a company that uses PIPS at such a high level to get people to quit or be fired. It just seems unreal that it plays such a big role in your yearly process.

Let’s go. Get this misery over with. It’s a death march but you know no one is coming to save you.

Nothing more than a toxic supervisor trying to speed up the process. Deserved or not deserved

It’s rare but it happens. Some might be related to behavioral issues.
