Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

5/30 CST townhall

Anyone realize how 5/30 town hall is so oddly times? I mean it is the week of memorial day weekend and that is long weekend. And more over the timing is really odd 3 PM in the afternoon.

It looks like they went out of the way to avoid TIAA-India. Maybe it is a sign that whatever is happening only affects US employees.

The obvious announcement we are expecting is the new record keeper for our record keeping business and people moving over after getting a nice kick in their butts.

Anybody has any other clue on what else is happening?

From what I heard from others who have been laid off, announcements are usually made through an email. At this point...who knows. It was made very clear in today's Thall that change(s) are coming/ happening.

I think anyone under Sastry has that townhall. That is just my guess.

There are 2 groups of employees one who get away without doing anything and second who are over worked and can't catch a break.

For people in later group they hope they sell the whole thing and get rid of this cr-p so we can finally breathe in peace. A lot of tiaa employees are old and they won't mind just sliding into the retirement.

What business units received the invite? I’m in retirement solutions and we didn’t get invited.

At the time this was scheduled, no deals were reportedly in place. I seriously doubt this is anything notable.

Nobody knows if they will give any kind of deal. If I had to guess I would say No. They are still asking you to work so technically they aren't laying you off.

For those of us who could be on the chopping block, will there be a severance pay if we decide not to work for Accenture. I have been hearing this for almost a year, why don’t these folks just make an announcement and get it done with.

Just another town hall I won’t attend. Timing is odd but at least it is not at 3PM ET on Friday the 24th?!

If they do what we think they are going to do I will be so sad for our participants and the associates moving over to that consulting firm for a year or less. Those who remain will be over worked, under paid, burnt out and begging to bring back the folks they transferred or leaving the company too with all their experience and skills.

I am a valued contributor but fear my time here is coming up to an end soon, probably won’t end up being my decision either.

These “leadership” decisions… it just sounds like the beginning… of the end.
