Today Kate said the industry will consolidate but Lumen, will not be the consolidator.

Because the BOD demanded KJ rethink her failing strategy. A new look at the trends in industry was a slap in the face to KJ. Oh No, better change direction yet again. Lumen has changed directions about eight times over past three years. Simply cannot steer the sinking boat but KJ does keep turning the wheel.

With all the departures from people that should be "in the know" like Lish, speaks volumes. Answer this, in 6 or 7 months there will be a proliferation of cloudification
companies, Akamai , etc.

Whatever the reason, Kate & Chris left their prospective companies to mine pyrite can easily be replicated by Amazon or Google if there is any "real revenue" to be had.

Yeah, it's true.
Many people in Lumen have "had security roles before Lumen". Does that mean they are highly skilled folks? Level3 brought over bunch of no talent security folks who also "had security roles before Lumen".

"why would Lish jump ship?"

Because like most execs, he flits from company to company whenever a better opportunity arises or before their track record catches up. He was there a whole three years, hardly a lifer.

"....God Bless Kate …..she is great !!!"

For allowing a good security guy Jason Lish to leave Lumen? Yeah, god bless Kate for flying Lumen into a mountain wall under daytime clear skies with all the employees onboard. I guess Jason saw what was coming and pulled a DB Cooper.

Comment made "....because KJ is planning to cut out some services and consulting which no longer needs big org chart in security"

Reply made "....That sounds made up. What kind of consulting? Surely security needs consulting to upsell some services on top of the connectivity stuff, no?"

That reply is more desperation. "Upsell"? Yeah, sounds like trying to sell widgets, also known as a fail plan. If things were so good at Lumen then why would Lish jump ship? When the senior position folks start jumping ship it's because they are the first folks to know what's really going down, and in this case it's the ship that's going down. Getting out before the deck goes underwater makes sense. Stock price still going nowhere and remains stuck there under rule of KJ. The Board are fools to allow things to go forward as-is.

Smart man Jason Lish. He's not leaving because of any forceful push, Jason is leaving to Cisco because KJ is planning to cut out some services and consulting which no longer needs big org chart in security. Par for the course folks. Jason's replacement has no talent in security.
