Cisco has engaged McKinsey to map out overlaps between Splunk and existing Cisco presence among customer bases. Once done, chop is to come. Since Splunk employees cannot be fired within 3 years, it will be the good old Cisco folks to make way and get off the floor.
A team of outsiders who have no idea who the workers are or what value they bring to the company or what they are as ICs, will be instrumental in laying off these people. That should answer people’s questions about criteria for layoffs: poor acquisitions and your presence in the wrong group at the wrong time. It has nothing to do with bottom percentages as some SED troll has been trying to imply here.
