Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Layoffs coming in Sales

Cisco has engaged McKinsey to map out overlaps between Splunk and existing Cisco presence among customer bases. Once done, chop is to come. Since Splunk employees cannot be fired within 3 years, it will be the good old Cisco folks to make way and get off the floor.

A team of outsiders who have no idea who the workers are or what value they bring to the company or what they are as ICs, will be instrumental in laying off these people. That should answer people’s questions about criteria for layoffs: poor acquisitions and your presence in the wrong group at the wrong time. It has nothing to do with bottom percentages as some SED troll has been trying to imply here.

Know this: “Change is the only constant “ ... What would the hordes of laid off people do without such snippets of wisdom?

For many at Cisco there is nothing you can say to attach employees to reality. We knew months in advance many whole teams were going to be laid off and yet when the day came and the VPs and HR told everyone in the conference rooms we were all laid off many still couldn't figure out what was happening.

After 40 years of layoffs in industry in general and 23 years of frequent layoffs at Cisco we can see on this website during each round many of you are just finding this out for the first time. It's usually followed by people who survived the layoff complaining that anyone who was good is now gone, unaware they're saying they are not good.

Very helpful mantra from our Supreme SE leader in the UKI. What would the hordes of laid off people do without such snippets of wisdom?

Is this part of the same LR announced before or a new LR that will run parallel to the LR announced in Feb, which hit the UK in March? Sounds like a Mr. Bean comedy series.

This is getting ridiculous. Endless LRs after LRs and no one really knows which LR is hitting when. Not that it matters to the people who are getting laid off - they lose their livelihood anyway.

These waves of LRs are happening non-stop since November 2022, every quarter. As US gets hit, Europe prepares and vice versa. Will this absurd insanity never stop? We need a radical change in management, from CEO right down to the sh!t-kicking managers.

Hmm I don't think you really understand
You see a man about a switch and ISE once a month
The partner probably sees them once a week about IT OT their BBQ at the weekend and how those 10 points you approve are paying for the CIOs new golf club

Partners do the hard yards for Cisco AMs
Partners do the dirty jobs to keep the customer engaged
Those ten points are probably going to the customers pocket..but yes your pretty PowerPoint is working very hard

"Partners carrying account managers?" That's simply not true, at least with our bigger accounts. Yes they do provide a service, but we're doing most of the heavy lifting (both in terms of pre-sales and in terms of actually selling). They do however take 10+ points of margin.

Is there anything Cisco can do on its own?

@5pib+1s6gkUKr yes, Splunk has a deal that Cisco cannot fire any of their employees before 3 years.

Is there a clause to say Splunk folks cannot be layoff within 3 years? Hiring a bunch of overpriced talkers from McKinsey ain’t gonna do us much good.

Needed tbh
As sad as it is for colleagues
How many sales actually speak to the client ?
Probably not as many as the ones that partners carry

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Of course, if you're still here after several rounds of layoffs, the probability that you're going to be here much longer is rapidly decreasing.
