Fake news. The actual big news is that we’re acquiring Bsci. Only way to slow down their growth.

I haven't heard much except for IT. I just hope Medtronic doesn't drag this out until June.

Layoffs are coming so Medtronic can fill in the spots in India

I don’t know which OU or territory these people support. My sense is that they are enterprise people, but they may not be.
Last I heard, the layoffs on Wednesday were a start to the process. CQS is going to take a few months to finish AOP and decide who goes and what reorgs are going to happen.
I’d expect more cuts in May and through Q1. That’s time to RIF, and have you train the replacements in India.

Several GOSC employees affected. They’re not in BUs but supported west region and the now canceled project marvel.

"Last years RIF gets blamed on overhiring during Covid, and changing business conditions. Doing another one indicates to the street that our business is rotten to the core, or the market has shifted and we aren’t positioned correctly to meet the needs."

Last years RIF and VERP was necessitated because Geoff lost control after his disastrous Op Model changes - he set up 20 business unit presidents to run their own operations and then he's the only one surprised when it turns out they hired like drunken sailors. Then Ops and quality lost the plot which led to massive supply disruptions and quality problems, which caused growth to stall. So you can lay the cause of last years blood letting right at the feet of Geoff and his enablers. Truly extraordinary.

Stop spreading confusion. If you know an impact and you want to share, then state the BU and function.

Otherwise just pull up your pa-ties and stfu.

Where for quality? Previously someone said quality was told they were in the clear this year due to the large layoff last year.

I wouldn’t read into AOP shifting to May meaning anything at all. I don’t think AOP has ever been finalized in April…it seems to slip every year.

MIP appears to be well funded, as well as the merit pool…I know I’m in the minority of this cesspool of a toxic website, but it wouldn’t make sense to do a massive RIF this year.

Last years RIF gets blamed on overhiring during Covid, and changing business conditions. Doing another one indicates to the street that our business is rotten to the core, or the market has shifted and we aren’t positioned correctly to meet the needs.

That said, as Neutron Omar pointed out, contractors aren’t employees, and therefore don’t get treated as such.

I noticed a lot of new R&D and Quality positions posted for India. This is a bad sign for engineers.

First off, there has been some sort of RIF nearly every year, just not wide spread. So surely there will be more this year. I don’t have inside info… other than the notice about shifting AOP back into May is a very bad sign for my org. Likely not massive, but also more substantial than one or two.

We are in year two of the three year cycle of planned RIFs. They will continue to keep the details around exactly who is RIFd confidential. This round of RIFs impacts global IT for sure. Not sure about the OUs. The only group spared in the global IT RIF this round is the GSO, but that team will likely be impacted Q1, or shortly thereafter. Check the current job postings to learn more. Many positions. Are leaving the US.

Raises are going to be dogsh$t.

Rifs aren’t going to be that bad. Will be surprised if it’s more than few hundred company wide.

Rather dump 30% of the dead weight in a rif and have a better raise.
