Lumen will become skeleton company soon, it has no choice. This is good and bad at same time. Stock price is non-performing which is super bad.

My guess is the RIF hits right after the 4/30 earnings call
Anytime someone says they “heard” or their “inside source” told them I immediately disqualify it. As in, “I heard from my inside source there will be layoffs on 4/19”. Meh. If there’s one in 2 weeks that’d be great. Buy my a-s out of this place. But m not giving the inside source people credit for letting us all know. Otherwise my….there’ll be a buyout within the next 2 years statement gives me cred for saying it here first.
So...any news after the 4/19 rumor, or?

Most large companies don't "fire" people, since if they're not on a performance improvement plan the company exposes itself to liability, legitimately or otherwise.
Especially when you're laying people off. If they're already a low performer the Lumen severance plan has a reduced payout documented for them.

I heard around 1100 took it. Target for the RIF was around 10-14% so I'd expect another round of 2000 soon. the lists were made up before the EOI. It will probably be like November where Kate gets to cheerfully announce it at the quarterly investor call to boost the stock price!
after all, Brene Brown doesn't come cheap, another 2000 heads still might not be enough to cover her consulting contract for the next 6 months.
