Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Broken Promises....

It so disappointing to invest decades in a company only to watch new management break the promises and destroy the trust and culture built by prior leadership with customers and employees. Over the last decade plus leadership has hallowed out the company consistently little by little every year. The inept leadership robs the company of a prosperous future while paying themselves handsomely as they prop up earnings, using accounting gimmicks, unwise mergers and company purchases, short sighted goals, buy backs and continued cuts while pushing propaganda saying it is in the best interests of the employees and customers. The emperor has no clothes.
Nothing to do here just a vent. Some have invested so much they are trapped, if you are not trapped, I suggest you think long and hard about what you want out of your future.

How is GM making terrible business decisions like acquiring lemons, not investing in R&D, RIFs, and shipping our jobs to India the result of DEI?

Need to spend more time focusing on the business than watch Fox News

I think the up/down vote count here proves the problem with this company. It's filled with mind numb lemmings who believe the DEI agenda isn't a problem or detriment. It's also immoral, unfair, discriminatory and based entirely on lies.

Geoff Martha praised Fentanyl Floyd like an angel and a Medtronic employee knew him. Life long career felony criminal. He had a pill on his tongue and swallowed and it's on police video.
Allegedly it was a 2mg Fentanyl.

That was an absolutely disgusting email Martha sent out. Keep your mouth shut until you get the facts.

DEI is not the cause of the current state.
It is just one more example of inept leadership.
You only have to look at the propaganda push to understand it is a another pawn leadership is using to cloak their true lack of vision to build a stronger future for the company, customers and employees while they milk more money from the company.

It’s not DEI or Woke or any other boogymen. It’s about incompetent leadership that blames long term employees for problems they themselves created in the last few years, willfully ignorant of what made this a great company as they force “improvements” from other industries as the answer to all our problems. There’s a level of management that knows the level above is in over their heads but they are powerless to correct the mistakes. Keep raising the dividend while you blame the employees for not getting more productivity out of their spend. Keep sc--wing suppliers while you complain about shortages. Keep demanding we come into the office more while our offices convert to flex space. The street trusts us as far as they can throw OHQ. Until ExCom are replaced with higher quality smarter leaders things are not going to improve around here.

I can't speak for the OP or anyone else, but I am on the cusp of leaving Medtronic for one - and only one -reason. And that reason is some of the DEI initiatives. But there are dozens of people who will clamor for the job I leave, and for leadership, my departure will be as inconsequential as a tiny puff of breeze passing on a balmy afternoon. At least for me, I will go where I am welcome and free to speak. And Medtronic will transform just a tiny bit more into a machine supporting the far left agenda.

Here comes the "oh its DEI and the Woke agenda" excuse. Other medical device companies have DEI incentives and are still eating our lunch.

Our lack of focus on innovation and quality is the downfall of this company.

I'm with you on hating the company's profit focus and wishing that innovation would come back, but I'm not with you on the weird-right-wing-hating-DEI-ism.

"I'm hoping to ride it out" Amen brother, the emphasis is not on organic Innovation or patients any longer but on short term Revenue and profit for shareholders. This company has went from being great with a great mission to a WOKE acquisition and sustaining company no room at the inn for Diversity of thought, just Race, Gender and how can we cut costs

Left just before COVID. Most still at Medtronic don't understand the constant gas-lighting. There is a world out there that you can get things done without 17 approvals, where you can sell products that are available and implement new systems.

The constant advice from management consultants and former McDonald's, Walmart and Toro execs have no clue how to run medical device.

My gripe is GM and his buddies are go giddy at outsourcing our jobs to Hyberbad just to save a buck.

I’m hoping to ride it out as long as possible as retirement approaches. That being said, if I get RIF’d I would be more relieved than sad.

This is no longer the company I loved years ago. I don’t think Medtronic can recover, not even if GM and his buddies move on. Too much damage has been done.
