Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Toxic Mgmt

Is it just me, or is mgmt being even more toxic, passive aggressive, and micromanaging lately? It’s almost like every week something new gets announced with another way for them to tighten the grip on us. Is it just my dept or everyone else too?

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Or we give ourselves a bonus for selling to JP.

Do not wait for the layoff or your severance. I mean it!!!!! Find something and jump. I was a top ranked employee. Stellar reviews. and was impacted In the layoffs on Oct 30. My work was divided amongst the team and people who made less and younger were given my responsibilities. I was a PL and IC. The severance not worth it. Unless you’ve been there for 10+ years. If you’re certain you’re good. Stay. Otherwise you all should be seeking your next jump. The runway to landing something is 6-8 months.

This is "Schwab Nice". Smile and be civil on calls, backstab and throw people under the bus behind the scenes.

This is the Schwab culture. It’s no different today than it was two years ago.

Only question now - how big is the May layoff going to be?

I seriously doubt Walt cares about lying at this point.

Lying is a feature.

I seriously doubt Walt cares about lying at this point. He will take the blame and give the reigns over to Robotic Rick and he will be painted as the savior to the firm. Watch and see.

100% because they didn’t get the stock pop from the layoff notice, not enough people left after they implemented RTO (which the whole purpose of the policy was to get people to quit), and lower annual review scores (also trying to get people to quit). Now they realized the May layoff will have to be much larger than initially expected so Walt will go back on his word again because it will have to be another broad sweeping one

Ain’t just you. We’re moving from toilet water to low grade industrial.

Chuckles always said he wanted us to be like Fidelity. They just had another round and staff are just as unhappy.

Clearly not enough left post bonus. Now we move to the double points round with four or five day RTO, more layoffs and performance issues.

If it helps, the market is pretty bad out there. Many of my friends are searching for a job and when i talk to them i feel like i am lucky to have this job (now don't start with the skill/interview factors, its not always talent - one needs to have luck). We are vulnerable right now, i would recommend to brush up your skills, be ready and make the jump when the market is better and make sure the company / atleast your team or org feels the pain in losing you. Cheers!
