Does anyone remember in 2019 right before Covid how bad our business was? It appears to me it's just like that now, if not worse. We have a BAD business model. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

The other problem is that anymore all the directors/managers are just all yes men to corporate. It use to be if a director/manager didn't want something in their store corporate would listen and not put that in their store not anymore. And then they wonder why they have to do all these so called labor cuts. Then they all get yelled at for why a store isn't getting a "sales increase" or why the backrooms are full of inventory.
The problem is that they are not satisfied with enjoying a healthy profit margin/gross. So instead the buyers at the office think they are "increasing sales" which they are told to do by buying more. If a store has to mark everything down under cost, but gets a sales increase the corporate heads clap for eachother give eachother raises and create a new vp title for themselves. The store itself then ends up losing more money than they would have without the junk, the store director gets yelled at, who then yells at the manager, who then yells at all of their hard working loyal employees. They end up leaving little by little to make 25% more at another retailer doing 50% less, rinse and repeat until there is no one left with any knowledge or anyone that cares. This is the new Hy-Vee. No more trust in the employees/ department managers to make the right decisions for their store. Everything is yelled at from the top to the bottom employees. No one's voice matters and everyone is mostly unhappy... congrats, I hope corporate leadership is happy...
But at least in 2019 inflation wasn't a thing and people could afford HyVee. Now, many folks, myself included, only shop ad items and loss leaders.
I think it's too many deadbeats hiding in the backroom.
