Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Growth year for IBM and IBM Stock. where is employee GDP?

Where is the 2024 Growth driven profit sharing for IBM Employees. Not guaranteed, but after a good year its usually announced in 1Q in the US. What is happening in 2024????? 2023 was great! Rev is up. Reports to wall street are up. Stock has sky rocketed.

Those on commission got their bonuses. What about all the others? Will profits just go to execs or will GDP be announced in June after 1Q layoffs? Sneaky.

I was totally skipped by my manager after only getting 1.1% last year.

Marketing and Comm - 1.2% GDP with an Exceptional rating. Not worth the effort. What will we get in a bad year?

Anyone with a manager or leader in their job title is incompetent or ignorant.

Our CEO got a 23% GDP because he is doing all the right things.

I was informed Monday that I was "selected" for the US RA. About 2 hours later, my manager asked me to join a Huddle on Slack and he then said, "Hey, I forgot to tell you that there is no GDP payout for you this year." I actually laughed (I had an Exceptional rating on my 2H 2023) and said, "I guess that makes sense. Why waste money on someone that you had decided to let go two months ago." He just sat there silent for about 30 seconds and I said "Anything else?" and he said no and I ended the Huddle. Within the next 2 hours he Huddled me 3-4 times to ask me to help him figure out how to move my work and the work of my team members who were ALL told that their jobs were being "eliminated" (to get around having to rank/document based on performance/contribution). My manager is an amiable stooge brought in by the clearly unqualified and incompetent executive (whom I am pretty sure that Arvind brought in to IBM from the outside a few months back to be the hatchet person) and this poor sap didn't even understand that Job Elimination means that the work will no longer be done. I find out the next day that he also told the only other manager in the group that he was also having his job "eliminated" and when my manager realized that he was not going to have around 50-52 direct reports, he THEN came to me and asked if I thought we could combine two of the remaining teams into one team and NAME A NEW MANAGER (I am not kidding). I told him that he should definitely talk to HR and Legal before he did that and he asked me why he needed to do that. I actually feel kind of sorry for the guy. FYI - the unqualified and incompetent exec that Arvind brought into chop heads also brought my manager and another white male (hmmmm??? I guess Arvind dropped THAT edict after O'Keefe exposed him to the world) in from their old company and after the old executive team all retired abruptly (they knew what Arvind was doing apparently) they were both made executives. None of these executives brought from the outside every bothered to learn what these teams actually do nor what the consequences and impacts would be for blindly laying them off. I was optimistic about Arvind when he was named CEO but he may turn out to the the CEO who finally destroys the company.

I got 1.8% for the best KPI's of all my peers. Still waiting on the deposit.

After being told I will no longer be with IBM, I asked my boss about the GDP email I received and will I still receive it this pay period. He stated yes. Looking at my bank account this morning, I did not receive it.

Could you imagine Arvind or any exec reading this post with their mega RSUs and infinite incentives, while chomping on popcorn laughing over everyone’s 2%. (We get more ExtraBucks people at another 3 letter acronym: CVS). Hey it could have been bluepoints for GDP and you could maybe afford leftover closeout items gathering dust from Black Friday 2023.

I got 2% for GDP. I received "exceptional" markings on both H1 & H2 '23 checkpoint reflections. Expected to be going up for a promotion, got RA'd instead, along with half the team.

But hey, the stock will go up. That's what matters, right? So what if the airplanes fall apart in the sky.

Last week's message: Thank you for your contribution to the success of IBM. Here is your GDP payout (2%). Keep up the great work!

This week's message: We have made a difficult decision due to budget constraints and your role is no longer needed. ---> Imagine this being recited by a manager with a dry personality.

What a **** show.

GDP for 2023 company performance is targeted to hit employee pay statements in March. If you are an employee then I think you should qualify --- especially those in brands and markets that drove success to carry the others.

I've already had GDP conversations with my reports (as has most of SW). Top end got 3% the others got 1.5%.

Yes the pool was larger, but we're talking roughly $200 more per person - so basically peanuts.

Once again Arvind being less than truthful with employees.

If you haven't heard from your manager yet you may want to check in with them.

And that's exactly when it was decided to accelerate the RA and not have to pay most of it out!

arvind announced it in his recent town hall/all hands. apparently the pool is the highest in 8 years.

Why would anyone be motivated to work at IBM? I left IBM few months ago and never looked back. It's a total sh-t show now.

Exec bonuses are tied to FCF so by doing this they give themselves a higher bonus. Same with elimination of 401k. We should all just stay bent over because the sc--wings will continue.

What percent of employees typically get gdp in a year like this? Is it mostly just exceptional performers?

Seeing in #usbenefits channel that in the US the date was moved from 3/15 to 4/8
