Thread regarding UPS layoffs

UPS part-timer in New York City speaks out against mass layoffs

“Months after the Teamsters union pushed through what they falsely claimed to be one of the richest contracts in company history, UPS has announced plans to lay off more than 12,000 people. At warehouses nationwide, shifts are being cut and entire facilities being replaced by new automated hubs requiring a fraction of the labor.”

Yep from the bunker they could easily direct the robotics but not so easy if workers were human. Just hope the electricity stays on during war times to charge the batteries.

Following the elites and those near the top of companies selling their stocks and preparing underground bunkers says a lot. Wander if they know something?

No amount of robotics or AI can fence against a war time economy. We can only pray the life we all know is not heading into a great depression soon. Seems no historical war ever ended well really.

Unfortunately the use of AI will continue to grow, though we must limit its power to protect the safety of humans.

For better or worse, automation is inevitable and cannot be stopped.

Our government must limit the outsourcing of US jobs to other countries as well as enforce a controlled, legal, and reasonable immigration policy.

Americans must come first, not AI, illegal migrants, or foreign workers.

Counting on AI and not human workers will backfire . Just follow the news about cyber security (how there is no complete cyber security yet) each week in the media.

Good article. Greed, globalism, outsourcing, and open borders are also hurting the American worker. Add to that UPS is a cutthroat business to work for. It is a very stressful environment to be in.

Whether you are union or management, being laid off is never easy. I feel for the current group at UPS who fear losing their jobs. There is life after UPS though, and the people who do get laid of at UPS may find that they are actually happier working someplace else in the end if it comes to that.
