Can Ford lay us off without any sort of compensation with under 10 years?

Very likely to fight if it you're a year or two shy of full retirement benefits. I knew co-workers who did it a few years back, and won. No downside except losing the severance. Lots of upside.
They had an article on the net saying google tried the gag order document like ford did. It said the court declared it illegal. So any of the gag orders former ford people signed is not worth the paper its printed on.
“while risking the possibility of being blacklisted elsewhere if they do a background check with Ford? Very unlkely. ”
There is no such a blacklist and they don't (and legally cannot) disclose such information, so you don't have to worry about it.
How I find out? I have sued all my former and current employers and nothing comes up in the background check! I always request a copy to review it myself and indeed, nothing comes up!
What if they disclose such information? Sue them again, haha! It is the fun of it, I like to see them startled and suffering, being so pitiful. They surely act differently from the time when employers have the upper hand!
Never count on it.
Legally, yes.
Unlikely!
Can they? Yes.
Will they? Unlikely. The severence isn't for you, but it's a way for Ford (and other companies) to put sort of a gag order on you so that you won't go out & sue / badmouth them for being terminated. As part of the terms with accepting the package, you effectively wave your right to take legal action or retaliate.
Are these terms enforceable? Maybe, maybe not (it will depend on thr circumstances). But are you, as a lowly employee, willing to fight against their army of lawyers to find out while risking the possibility of being blacklisted elsewhere if they do a background check with Ford? Very unlkely.
