Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Bonus Payout is AWFUL

I got half what I did last year. I was also lied to which always builds trust. Today was supposed to be a good day with good news. Quite the opposite. I hope sc--wing the worker bees was worth it to Senior Management. Loyalty goes both ways. They might want to calculate how many of their workforce contributes to purchasing Ford product via A and X plan purchases and don’t forget service work.

90% is the new employee performance 100% X 84% is the new company performance 100% = 75.6% is the new overall 100%. I got the message and decided to do something about it. Easy to solve, I got a side hustle job, I am now working 24.4% of the day for my new job. The extra pay more than makes up for Ford s(rewing me over. Make sure you do not use Ford's computer or network while you are working the other job. F-Ford, enjoy the extra $$$ ;-)

If the company only kept those aligned on the corporate strategy, Ford would be in big trouble. Luckily there are still a few ICE and hybrid folks around. Not long ago the corporate strategy was all in on EVs. DF was hired and given free reign to turn Ford into Tesla. Have you seen Tesla's stock performance? Why is DF still at Ford?

Got my numbers. Wow. I guess I should have worked on the line, got a signing bonus plus a record profit sharing check.

This is really an outrage and a miscarriage of justice.

Hmmmmm

It sounds like the company you work for has you feeling worried about layoffs, has decreased your annual bonus, and is forcing you to return to the office from remote work.

What so you think you'll do about any of that?

Do you think you will try to improve things for yourself at your job? Or, will you look for another job with another company?

Hmmmmm or will you just stay at the company where you are so unhappy and come to an internet website to anonymously complain about it daily?

This country wasn't built with that attitude in 1776. You need to take accountability for your own happiness. Go make your life better.

Hmmm. This is a layoff site. So we're supposed to be happy about the possibility of being laid off every year/other year, get half of the bonus we received last year, being called to RTO without proper work spaces and resources?

Ford is doing very well on our balance sheet and with our investors.

There are a lot of angry and jaded employees showing their ugly heads on this forum. Ford needs to drop that dead weight as soon as possible. And hire people who are aligned with the corporate strategy.

You don't have to agree with the company line, and you don't have to wor here either.

Ummm, last poster, that was only a year and a half ago. That prediction may still come true!

According to this forum in August 2022, Ford was destined to go bankrupt within a handful of years. Laughable. Ford is a Goliath. They may make mistakes, but they aren't going away. Not ever.

@2buz - they got rid of the pension program for those hired 6/1/2001 and later. Ford won’t go bankrupt just to erase pension liabilities because the Ford family would lose their controlling shares.

@nli+1ru4a8vz is right. We need to get rid of these awful pensions. They are what is dragging us down. And we don't give handouts. If workers don't save for their future that is their own problem!

Wait a second. You mean to tell me people quit last year and are still getting a bonus? I quit 2 months ago and wasn’t expecting a bonus. You saying I would????

Laid off in August 2022 after over 30 years. Paying bonus of 8/12 was not a sufficient reduction. HR/management decided it was a good idea to further reduce the bonus with a 60% performance factor. I was retiring anyway. I bought a Toyota last year. A couple relatives asked if I still could get A plan. I said I didn't have access. Way to beat me out of a couple thousand, HR/management!

I think he meant that the personal modifier was 100%. Which means he's lucky. When I got laid off on 2022 our management sc--wed us by giving us a personal modifier of 60%. Which means we got target * .6 * AICP (I forget what it was last year) * .67.

I guess it was better than nothing but where was HR to look out for is. I heard it was the fat, Atlanta based LL3 that made the decision to sc--w us. How that guy keeps his job is a mystery.

@fys+1ru4a8vz, per your comment below, can you explain what you mean that no multiplier was used for you?

So let's say your bonus was an initial 9K. The way you were paid out was 9,000 x 8/12 and not 9,000 x 8/12*.84 since you had no performance rating since you left before the end of the year?

"It was the 0.84 multiplier for our team pro-rated for the time worked. I was surprised they didn’t knock people like me down to a lower multiplier, but he said HR said there is no multiplier for us since we don’t have a performance rating.

Long story short, if you think you are not getting a really good rating, quit before the end of the year I guess."

Better to quit than to stay. I just got off a call with my former LL5 and he told me my bonus payout from the 9 months I worked at Ford last year before quitting at the end of September. It was the 0.84 multiplier for our team pro-rated for the time worked. I was surprised they didn’t knock people like me down to a lower multiplier, but he said HR said there is no multiplier for us since we don’t have a performance rating.

Long story short, if you think you are not getting a really good rating, quit before the end of the year I guess.

Bankruptcy for Ford is very likely due to their pension liability. GM and Stellantis, not likely because they emerged from bankruptcy without any pension liability.

It might actually be worse than you think. Reports are coming in that tiers aren't getting annual increases at all. OEMs have given raises and bonuses. They've given the entire world to the union.

The entire business cycle reeks eerily similar to the leadup of 2008 all over again. Would it not be absolutely ironic if in less than a year or so, there were concessions being asked of the union? OEMs seeking bankruptcy protections. Necks on the chopping block all over again.

Don't have to wish for it. In fact don't want it. But, history tends to rhyme and at times repeat. People having some experience in this should make one want to brace for impact.
