I'd wager this is an excuse to get out of the passenger car business in EU. If you look at the financials, what is now FordPro is the only thing that keeps most of the EU in the black. Cut that out, and suddenly it's a lot easier to quietly leave the space like GM did...
They give the specifications from the customer to Ford Blue because they are good with people! Why can’t you understand that!
Clever rebranding of fleet and commercial sales
Former employee, SIRP'ed, but I launched the Transit in KC. That is a money maker for Ford. Not one senior management type came over to the launch as it was the ugly step child. Folks coming out of the woodwork now claiming success, when most of them never were involved in design, launch or manufacturing. It was 2.5 years of he-l, NMPDC and then KCAP.
Ford Pro is doing much better than Ford Amateur.
They sell vehicle data to fleets, telematics subscriptions
Ford Pro is the old commercial business that no one ever really paid attention to but it was profitable then and it is now.
They have no product.
And Junior would never spin off trucks as they would lose special voting stock.
Will not happen.
Maybe the plan is to spin these off?
