I was part of the layoff last October from tech. I just landed a new role that is a promotion and higher pay, also remote and flexible, but in an industry that isn’t doing great- auto. It’s more of a stop gap I think, but it’s a solid opportunity. Maybe I’m just cynical, but I don’t feel excited. I feel good about the people but the overall industry is something I’m not sure of.

Hey congrats! You totally rock, thanks for sharing. Even if this is a stop gap, it’s great it’s a promotion. I am sure you will continue to be successful as you move through you career.
Congratulations! You can keep looking. See what you can learn from the new position and since you’re already in the job seeking mode keep an eye out for other things in case it doesn’t work out. It’s great that you were able to get an offer in this job market! It doesn’t have to be forever. In fact, I think it’s better to move around every few years.
"but in an industry that isn’t doing great- auto" so the company you work for now had to borrow 8 billion as well?
Congratulations!
Enjoy the win for now. Then reset and position yourself for future success.
Automotive is weird. Sloth like evolution. Fights everything. But they’re about to be sla-ghtered in EV and advanced hybrids without tariffs or other market limitations. And voters are tired of the free market unless my buddies are in trouble politics.
Congratulations! Even if it’s a short term role it’s experience and gives you time to find something else. That said, give it a chance. You may end up loving it!
