Work 1 day and then use your 4 sick days and then quit.

If what your saying is true about your current job then you would be crazy to come back. The lifestyle isnt worth it.
Do yourself and your family a favor and increase the 401k witholdings for retirement to offset the difference some and enjoy being with your family.

My job isn’t terrible now , pay is about the same as RR , good 401k , free healthcare , weekends off, daylight, the only reason I considered going back was for the pension

It is a hard decision. But don’t forget to factor in your long term health. Say what you want but way too often (both management and union), I hear about people passing away within 2 years after retiring. This job forces people to live an unhealthy lifestyle which catches up with them.

Only 9 years? Do you hate your current job? Where you probably have most weekends off? Do you want to be forced to take all your vacation in March or February?

Do you want to suffer another 21 years+ of uncertainty? No matter the craft, you'll be laid off for sure during that time at least once.

Then by all means, take the call back.

It really depends on your current situation. Are you employed and like your job? Which department were you furloughed from?
Even if Ancora Holdings isn't successful in taking over NS the current Management is going to be forced to lower the Operating Ratio to make the Shareholders happy.
IMO NS will furlough in the near future to increase profits. I would hate to see someone leave a stable job only to be Furloughed in the near future.
