Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears in Palm Beach Gardens FL appears to have suddenly closed

Sears is no longer listed in The Gardens Mall directory at https://www.thegardensmall.com/shopping-dining/ . The space it occupied at the bottom of the map is now blank on both floors.

The mall's page for Sears, https://www.thegardensmall.com/retailer/sears/ , is now 404 Not Found:

When you call the store at (561) 775-8455 , you get a recording saying "we have permanently closed this location".

So was Edward Scott Lampert, but the most responsible person IMHO was Eli Wexler.

(the article incorrectly says there are 13 remaining Sears stores, when in fact there are now only 11)

Although the Palm Beach Gardens store page https://www.sears.com/stores/florida/palm-bch%20gdns/0001765 still exists, the store no longer shows up in the Store Locator at https://www.sears.com/stores?adcell=HNFindStores when you enter the zip code 33410. You get only the Coral Gables (Miami) store now.

Yes, they advertised on Facebook the day before they suddenly closed. I take a phone recording that says they are closed, and their removal from the mall directory, as definitive.

Sears should have closed all their stores 5 years ago.

Wow, you know a company is in trouble when they close over 16% of their remaining stores in the first quarter!
