Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

After 27 years I was IRIF'd from Xerox Today

For many years now I have watched Xerox reduce the workforce and had been fortunate that I made it through those until today. The problem still remains at Xerox no matter how many individuals they IRIF. Xerox's ideology and processes are still in the stone age. The Docutech Family of products was a game changer and kept the company solvent for years. When that revenue stream started to decline another revolutionary product was released the IGEN. There hasn't been any game changing products from xerox released since then. Now instead of leading the market in the print space they are trying to catch to the latest print trend (Brenva -Baltoro for example). I truly believe the only thing that kept Xerox afloat during Covid and up to now was the settlement from the Fuji Xerox acquisition that fell through. The way the layoff happened was cold and callus and just not how you expect to be treated after you have poured your blood, sweat, and tears into the company for the younger years of your life. After my meeting / phone call today I was hurt, angry, and trying to figure out where in my professional life where do I go from here. Overwhelmed with the thoughts of it all. Most of my thoughts and phone conversations were consumed with the IRIF until late this afternoon. in the afternoon my feelings subsided and in an odd way it was almost was if a weight and burden had been lifted from my shoulders. I will move on to bigger and better things, and wont have that going out of business fire sale feeling every quarter like it has been for the past 5 - 6 years. I do wish Xerox the best and feel sorry for the individuals that are still left that will try to pick up the pieces when the smoke clears. But the reorganization as Xerox calls it doesn't fix the root problem, which is the antiquated and outdated processes and ways of doing business as they do today

After 40 years of always doing my best, with exemplary reviews, I get a phone call from someone I've never met in Hawaii. That's was less than cold hearted. The current senior management group will go down in history as the group that buried this once proud company, imho

I was with the company for 35 years and left 5 years ago. I started as a 19-year-old PSR. It was a great company for much of my time there, except for the last 5-7 years. Training in Leesburg was always fun and the camaraderie was great. I learned a lot of skill sets that I'm applying in my daily life. But...., all good things do come to an end. My last years there were miserable. All the good people started to leave. They promoted a tech with no leadership skills to become my service manager and I knew I had to go...

I enjoyed a great career for 33 years, 9700's, docutech, igen ect, I took voluntary redundancy 5 years ago, met my wife at xerox, we've been together 25 years, she was made redundant 20 years ago, I guess what I'm trying to say is your just need to let it go, it's not the company you remember.

IDK. I feel for you and the many others who have been downsized over the past many, many years. I know for the past 22yrs I can think of it’s been a steady drum-beat of layoffs. We got a reprieve somewhat over past few years during and after covid partly due to our annuity stream of service and toner coming in, when no one was printing we were still getting $.

You had a chance to exit years ago, because no new break through products have been the news for easily 20yrs. Bad this or that, sloppy mgt, etc you fill in the blank - it has been this or that way for many, many years. We all stayed for one reason or another and got paid. Your number came up and it is truly cr-ppy. I am still around, but for how long? I am not blind it could be anywhere between 2mo or 2yrs - IDK. I hope I have the attitude of some I know who have gotten downsized in past and yesterday, a sense of thankfulness to have worked so long and benefited from all those around who keep plugging along.

Agree. I was RIF'd last year after some 10 years at X. Cold and business like on the call. "you're gone. here's the link to what benefits u are eligible for" click. But now, after some frustration and fright of looking for a new job, I am in a better place. making more $, less stress, less stupidity. I used to look up at X as a good company. now, and for many years, it's a shell of its former self. outsourcing, layoffs, selling research facilities..... SO many good people gone but ID10T mgrs and upper seem to mostly hang around..... just sad. but u will get thru it. it may take some high blood pressure moments..

I would have been 26 years this week, if they hadn't pushed me out in a similar bloodbath 11 years ago.

A woman I worked with had her 45th anniversary this past Monday, and got the shaft. She's a year and a half away from retirement.

The corruption and good ole boys network is still intact.

The northeast gets to keep the old network. Cut in other markets lol.

The lies are impressive.

If HR only audited expense reports…

The going out of business feeling is such a good way of putting it. I’m sorry you were treated this way but it’s true that you and everyone RIFd will be better off. Wishing you all the best.

If you were brought on direct after a period of being a contractor (aka the "Microsoft Settlement"), check bennieweb for what it considers your years of vesting, which will account for that time. If you're close to 30 years there, then you qualify for a "vesting extension" of up to 1 year to get to 30. Of course, they just nerfed the RIGP, but it's still worth a bit if you qualify.

Wishing you the best!! My advice, everyone have a plan B. Always!!! Don’t rely on your job only. Have other sources of income in addition.

As someone who was around for the exciting days of DocuTech and IGEN, and was not IRIFed today, this really saddens me. On Wednesday, I just had such a pleasant experience with a TSM. Their attitude was 100% collaboration and supportive for both the customer and our sales team. I walked away thinking how refreshing it felt these days. Today, I fear he may be gone.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and everyone impacted. Wishing you a better future.
