Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Need Advice

I was told by my boss that if I need to go to the Doctor I should go either afterwork, on the weekends or on a scheduled day off while using vacation time. She also told me that no one on her team uses sick days and we give that time back to Citi every year. How would you folks out there handle this?

Is your manager from India or from some Consultancy or from external country ? They might not be aware of US laws.
Just send a mail that you have Dr. appointment and leave. If you have enough sick days take extra 2 days off. No one has rights to touch you.
You shouldn't be asking for permissions on these cases. Seems like you are from country where they ask permission for even going to toilet

OP here. This story is NOT made up. Why would I make this up and ask for advice on how to handle it? This is one of the reasons people don’t speak up because alot of times the first thing people say is you’re lying. I know its my word against hers so the only real evidence is if HR were to review our sick time. There they will see no one uses it and the reason is because we’re all concerned with what she might do. She’s one of those managers that doesn't take a day off and even when she’s off she logged in. She expects us to do the same. Anyway thanks to those who gave me good advice on how to handle the situation.

Not sure what OP is talking about. Is this a troll? Citi managers never asked reason of unplanned days. OP definitely not working in Citi. All you need to do is to enter an u planned day in workday

This is one manager being insane. not Citi. I’ve had many managers, and I know others thru co workers. Never ever heard of anyone doing what your manager is doing. Def report them to ethics hotline.

OP here. Thanks for the advice. She’s been with Citi for over 30 years. Im concerned that if I report her I will become part of the layoff. She’s been getting away with this for over 15 years not sure how though. Either no one has reported her or HR has ignored the complaints. I regret joining Citi and based on what Ive experienced thus far Im starting to believe the negative comments on this page about Citi.

Take your sick days they are there for a reason. You should also report that to HR.

Report your manager to your skip level manager, HR and the ethics hotline. Tell them you are being harassed and your manager is trying to intimidate you into NOT using your time given to you. Your time might I add which is considered part of your allocated pay agreement.

At the slightest hint of harassment, sue Citi.

wtf?? Ridiculous, you don’t give any days “back to Citi” use every vacation day and sick day ( planned /unplanned). And Dr visits, you take them as needed. You don’t need to take a day off for one unless it’s going to take a long time ( like 4-5 hrs or more ). My team just lets each other know that we’ll be out at an appt from x time to y time, no big deal.

Been at Citi over 14 yrs. Your boss is crazy. Honestly I’d report that to ethics, not letting you the sick days is against policy.
