Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

It really is possible to make a decent living outside of ExxonMobil

I was around for a long time and never thought I’d leave. Felt like it was my calling, loved what I did and was so good at it. Then I turned 50 and got NSI’d. Realized they didn’t value me or my contributions at all. How could I be so ignorant?! Hit the door so fast it surprised even me. Felt awesome, best feeling to just say f*** it all and walk away. But once the shock wore off, yeah, it was terrifying.

It all worked out. They get you in a trance with the big money and big benefits. But, it really is possible to make a decent living outside of ExxonMobil.

Take control: own your career AND your future. It’s entirely up to you, not some corporate a$$ kissing nincompoop to determine your worth and “potential.”

A good post by @1jso+1rc4yNHZ that should be seen by more people.

EM is a DEI dystopia. The incompetent DEI promotions are running this company into the ground.

Imagine now life with a bonus, stocks LTI and every other Friday off. The down side, to realize that you are not especial and gifted because EM “only” hires the best, there are plenty of good people and bad people everywhere. And a future based on your performance, not a lame psychological test that sociopaths excel at.

Absolutely! Lots of places and lots of places where you don’t have to deal with narcissistic managers that are there because they fit the DEI mold especially women

I did.

Working for EM upstream as a 28/28 engineer I had an outside job on my days off that paid more that EM. EM discouraged me from working on my month off but was never successful in that regard, ha! Then I retired; 35 years was enough. But, I still kept my outside job which i continue to hold today, which pays more than my EM engineering job. Life is good.

I know that does not really answer your question but I couldn’t help myself. Peace.
