Thread regarding Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. layoffs

DEI

Is it me or is all that our Global DEI exec does is to post a bunch of , MUFG is proud to celebrate( fill in the ethnicity). Wow, we are knocking the door down on DEI.

Do we need a global exec to post celebratory content and pretend we are achieving some measure of DEI. We are a global company, we have Diversity out the wazoo. We have an all white Exec Leadership so what is really working? Save a really needed few roles and let’s ditch DEI.

The loving the most recent "women's golf event" taking place in none other than slickcone valley broadcast across Brydgte. Not sure about you, but it feels like a slap in the face when seeing the front page when looking for some policy you cannot find after working insufferable hours to no result or end; but go ahead, play golf and dream big!

I think our DEI executive thinks she is Michelle Obama .

Wholeheartedly agree. The management of my org has been actively pushing out non-white folks, and that's after they used Project Symphony and layoff to get rid as many as they can already.

More teams have only one color by now, which was worse than it was when I joined the firm 7 yr ago. Go figure!

BTW, don't kid yourself- DEI is just there so the company has plausible denial- how can MUFG be a racist culture when we force DEI?

Think of it like real-time LEAP training..

Those people we have as consultants for this DEI nonsense were out pouring coffee or burning the American flag a few years ago. I hate sitting in and listening to these people tell us "we're going to make it better!" by "making things better!" - I literally heard this as 'reasoning' during one of these things a few mos. ago.

That and the loons who work here who say things like "I have had difficulty in the workplace because I'm (whatever)..."

HOW SO? What has been so 'difficult' about showing up to work? The fact that people don't celebrate your peculiarities instead of politely not discussing it?

A Japanese owned company staffed by a bunch of minorities, LOL. That's us all right- we need DEI like we need holes in the head.

In my area, management is actively pushing out anyone that looks different from them. The diversity of the dept has gone down, not up, since I joined 5 yr ago. Smh.

Unfortunately, DEI efforts here are just window dressing. The hierarchical, top-down, bureaucratic approach mirrors the rest of the bank. DEI does not work here because top leadership lacks diversity, and staffing of management positions is mostly based on personal connections rather than merit.

I am tired of hearing how we support this group or that group or we support this Women’s Day or That Gender Day. Because in reality we do not believe in DEI. If the Global DEI executive was so good, OB should already have all the white folks out of the ECA. Replace Thumpster with someone smart. Get a new HR person, Risk Officer and replace them with smarter people who can get things done. But as for DEI, it was a joke before the DEI exec, it’s a joke during and will be a joke after. We can save some money and eliminate the DEI org, if they are not going to shake up the ECA folks.
