Blue book values are declining.
Here's the near future:
Inflation on food and energy.
Deflation on assets (homes, autos, recreational vehicles, collectibles, etc.).
High interest rates meet unsustainable debt, higher inventories, a devalued dollar and lower consumer interest.
I assure you, what your coworkers drive should be the last of your concerns.

GM is a corporation. I worked there as a contractor, supplier, and direct hire. The corporation always looked for their interest first. They treat non-GM employees as second class citizens and do not reward current employees with adequate raises and promotions .

GM has cut employee discounts and employee appreciation amounts for new vehicles over the years. While I worked there I always bought new GM cars. I never had a problem with any of them. Since I took the VSP I will only buy a GM vehicle if it makes financial sense to me. The corporation has no loyalty to its employees and I will reciprocate.

When I retired a scant 3 yrs ago, the team I was with and everyone we worked with tried their utmost to give the very best of their ability to our product, even if what we were working on(ev's) didn't make any sense.
I have driven GM my entire 30 yr stint and am proud to drive GM now.
GM problems aren't in the lack of hard working, conscientious employees.

I'm as loyal to GM as GM is to me.

Not at all.

The target audience for GM vehicles are older people in the Midwest who think it's normal for one to be in the shop for a week every 4 or 5 months.

Never again. Last one (Impala) was a POS. A different repair needed monthly. Between family, 4 newer Hondas and 1 Mazda. Hondas have been flawless, and only a couple of minor issues with the Mazda. I am loyal to quality, value and reliability, none of which I found with GM vehicles.

i just got a model y. it's a great car, was super cheap with all the rebates and def the most snappy vehicle i've ever had. build quality seems top notch to.

nothing personal, I'd switch back to gm in the future if there's a more compelling product at the time.

Most of you are a job cut away from losing everything and you want to talk about loyalty?

How much money do you have saved for an emergency?
Can you pay the bills with unemployment?
Do you have confidence that you can find a job that pays anything close to what you are getting right now at GM?

And to think so many were threatening to quit last February 2023 over RTO. Very few did, and the rest are biting the pillow.

Go ahead and buy a brand new $50k GM car.
Your loyalty is one way but it sure helps the rest of us.

Fresh out of college I bought a new 1995 saturn "Japanese Car Ki-ler". 5 years later burning oil at 90k. Swore I'd never touch an american car - having seen other family members misfortunes. Purchased a brand new honda accord ex v6 coupe - lasted 15 years 300k miles. Then I worked for ford an purchased a Ford Focus. Had to have the transmission repaired @ 90k each time. DPS6 powershift resulted in a well deserved class action lawsuit. I will never buy another american car. Current car - 2010 honda civic 180k miles and runs like a top - just like my corolla before my saturn. Few years from now either RAV4 or CRV.

I'd like to see how deep the company loyalty runs.
