A friend that I worked with years ago works in the eastern business unit in Charlotte NC and was told on Tuesday that they have until May 31 to find a job or be let go. This person has been with Walmart for 27 years and is hurt.

I think they were talking about the Pta's position that Walmart deleted 3 weeks ago. They told 1800 associates that they have until May 31 to find another role in Walmart. They get only a portion of their of their pay until then. Which is sh---y move on Walmarts part. These didn't ask for their positions to be deleted. They should get full pay imo not to mention when finding a new position they have to take a pay cut also. Smdh
Based on your description of the situation, this is obviously NOT a "layoff", but rather a performance related action on the part of Walmart. I assume this individual is either a Market or Regional team member. This is typically how performance related issues are handled. I wish him/her well.
Those charlotte stores are rough, i remember having to go to one all the way from coastal NC to help with pre-inventory and it still shurnk out 7 million.
