Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

No Layoffs?

Today Kurt said during the Town Hall there are no layoffs planned and we are good for 2024 and 2025. Buy the dip!

It's easy (and beneficial) to say nothing "is planned today" and then just lay off later saying it wasn't planned. You can't get them to commit so you can't hold them to anything. Come on, you can't be a total dummy.

Bwahaha... and you believe a CEO who is beholden to shareholders and not to employees would tell you the whole truth?!

I think you can at least assume all the data centre/ server employees that are being replaced by Google Cloud will be eventually be gone or retained elsewhere in the firm. So probably a bit more to go.

There is always an element of operating costs increasing for a bit when moving to the cloud, as for a while you're paying for both the cloud and your existing team / infrastructure at the same time.

So perhaps there is enough of a natural cost decrease in sight as the cloud move completes to avoid an additional layoff plan.

You could be right. It might not be planned (for now), and there is a chance that shareholders will also want to implement some "rightsizing" for profit-seeking, as other tech companies have recently done.

blah haha. Don’t you remember last year he said “no layoffs” then 1-2 months later they announced layoffs. No CEO can guarantee no layoffs especially for 2 years lol.
