Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

*Confirmed: Mama Maria did NOT resign, she got laid off

It cost Cisco about $33 millions to remove her position.

ELT just lied to their OWN employees while telling the truth to the government. Where is the transparency folks? Shame on you.

Per U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission government website:

"Departure of Directors or Certain Officers. On February 16, 2024, as part of organizational changes with respect to Cisco's executive leadership team, Cisco informed Maria Martinez, Cisco's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer ("COO"), that the COO position currently held by Ms. Martinez has been eliminated. Accordingly, Ms. Martinez will remain employed with Cisco until May 15, 2024. This change is due to aligning the Operations and Customer Experience organizations directly to the Chief Executive Officer and eliminating the COO role."

The funny thing is many people KNOW the ELT is laying, but we don't say anything.

And the employees rejoiced

the Cisco ELT is like the politicians in Washington, they will sacrifice thousands before they let any kind of monetary loss is experienced by them. They will eliminate thousands jobs just to make profit for themselves. In Cisco is do as I say and not as I do policy. Nobody even cares and all the a--kissers comment on the chat during company meeting makes me sick to my stomach.

I was sort of hoping to relocate to Portugal since there's an office there and I work remote. I hear that the lifestyle is much better there. Didn't one of the other ELT members just say that they were in Portugal recently?

Hate to break it to you, but this happened regularly at Lenovo. The Managers, Directors, Executive Directors, etc... on up, all play this game with the subordinates where they will get a group meeting to say whatever they think will calm down the masses, even if they know that they are straight out lying through their teeth. The funny thing is many people KNOW the ELT is laying, but we don't say anything.

The Portugal teams under Maria will be cut next because those teams only existed because Maria liked to visit Portugal. It never made business sense, it was forced. Of course, Chuck likes to go to Hawaii and Fran likes Africa. Large business decisions in Cisco are often based on executive privilege, not a business plan.

Goodbye V2MOMs! That will save a lot of money!

Every ELT should take a 95% pay cut before we do more LRs.

What concerns is this took so many years to figure her incompetence. Within year of joining, MM fired every one working in leadership at CX.

She then brought her loyal lieutenants whom she brought from Sales force, deployed Sales force tools, providing ample revenue to CRM that helped her stocks from CRM.

She then deployed dreaded V2MOM across Cisco which made NO sense and no one liked but dutifully cut-and-paste and propagated across the corporation.

Somewhere along, she was made COO, allowing her to promote her gang within.

All of this was missed until now when her own V2Momma - methods and measurements didn’t do anything to Cisco bottom line. The loss in CX and TAC will take years to recoup, and Cisco may never recover.

So, replacing people who actually understood how to run a Professional Service and Support Service business with a series of SFDC dolts whose core competency was su-king up to a malignant narcissist was a bad strategy? Who knew?

Of course, she got laid off. Who would ever resign on her/his own in a situation like this?
I can easily tell that she got laid off.
Cisco and its HR teams in ALL regions are extremely strict about the employees' morals and everything and they warn employees who soon will leave the company saying that theft of any company data saving into USB storage or forwarding emails to any personal email address, which they claim that they closely monitor, but they often lie to the employees. They're so very unethical and corrupt.

There will be case studies in the future on how one bad senior hire can seriously ruin the value (qualitative and quantitative) of a company.
MM will be one of those featured.

Sadly, whoever comes in has a big job on their hands. Even if the best of the best comes in (whoever that may be, it shouldn’t be one of the people below her as I don’t see anyone who would do much different to her).
That’s probably six months away, and then at least six months to make any meaningful change, and more like 12 months. By that time we will have lost more business to competitors, some more people will be LR’ed, some of our best people will leave to new pastures.
Wall Street will begin losing patience, and all the while will be losing even more ground.

What did you expect CR to say?

I made a huge deal about being a SW company and hired MM to lead the way, I didn't pay attention that all the good senior leaders (JP,JN,TB,BP) quitting in the first year, she delivered ZERO incremental revenue, so then I promoted her to COO where she further alienated people and had to cut costs to try and show any value and now I had to face the facts?

Thats not how it works. Its "She's deciced to spend time with her family"

What is more unforgivable than this enormous sc--w up is the "grand gesture" CR made with his flowery statements on the beat.

Why can't he just man up. I made a mistake. Here is what has happened. Her is what I am doing about it.

Its not the fault that the sales teams saved us last Q and last Y by selling as much HW as they could.

Its MM destroyed the customer value of AS, TAC (now CX) and created an massively inefficient organization where she ruled with an iron fist but a jelly brain.

Success Tracks? Not $1 truly sold, anything claimed as a Success Track sale was either thrown into the deal or rebranded as standard services.

Chuck has no experience running services and bet on the wrong horse.

Remember when Amy Chang left? They kept saying that she would be back and that it was just a temporary leave of absence. What a lie that was.

This thread showed up in Google already, and yet nothing else matches the text from OP in either Google or the SEC.gov website. It seems odd a discussion board from Malaysia which has been discredited for other postings is where the SEC chose to do their release. Until I see a citation from SEC.gov or cisco.com I'm calling shenanigans.
