New Recall: Even if we repaired it before.

Fix version 2.0. Didn’t know engineering gets mulligans on steering.

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021-2022 Ford E-Series E-350 and E-450 vehicles with dual rear wheels over an issue with the power steering pressure line and the hydroboost jumper line. Vehicles in this recall were previously recalled for the same issue back in 2022, and owners will need to have this new remedy completed even if their vehicle was repaired under the prior recall.

The defect: in affected vehicles, an inadequate connection between the power steering pressure line and the brake hydroboost unit may result in a sudden loss of power steering fluid.

The hazards: a sudden loss of power steering fluid can result in a loss of power steering and power brake assist, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this condition.

Components: power steering pressure line and hydroboost jumper line.

Affected vehicles: select 2021-2022 Ford E-Series E-350 and E-450 vehicles with dual rear wheels built at the Ford Ohio Assembly plant between May 11th, 2019, through June 17th, 2021.

Number of vehicles affected: 16,543 vehicles.

The fix: dealers will replace the power steering pressure line and the hydroboost jumper line, free of charge.

This isn't even the first time Ford had to recall a recall. There was a door latch recall issued a few years back on several vehicle lines including Fusion and Escape. Some of the vehicles were "repaired" with latches that had the same latent defect as the original parts, so these vehicles got a second set of replacement latches under the second recall. Is there anyone at Ford still doing part-level validation or reviewing DVP&R submissions from the supply base?

So poor quality at Stellantis/Chrysler is your justification for putting unsafe Ford vehicles on the road? No wonder we are the King of Recalls in the industry. Curious to know just how high up the leadership chain you are to have this mentality. No surprise we are failing in the market.
