Letter to UPS Carol Tome:
Why don't you offer your older Operations Management Employees a buyout? This would make job opportunities for younger management employees that you have laid off? Makes sense to me. Carol, you have a great opportunity to do what is "Wildly Important" for your older management employees. I am talking about 55 years or older and at least 30 years of service. Reward your older older management employees.
Union O'Brien, why doesn't the union do the same. Offer some of the older vested Teamsters a one time offer. Example, driver with 25 years of service now only getting 3000 a month pension, offer them 3200 a month (they should have 30 days to take offer or not). This will keep many young drivers working or prevent them from from bumping back into hubs displacing pt hourly employees. This same offer should be made to pt seniority employees that are able to retire. KEEP EVERYONE WORKING!!!
