The thing is Hy-Vee itself is still making money its the retail side that isn't. The subsidiaries of the company are making money as are the logistics side so the company does have some money. The problem is they want to do more with less so if corporate forces the stores to cut labor that's more money in the company's pocket. That's how there able to afford to buy things. I'm not saying it's right but unfortunately most corporations cut labor or layoff to make money.
The company has turned awful. Have started unethical business practices and are so overpriced that foot traffic is way down. They use to step to a list of fundamentals, but those have been disregarded for the almighty dollar. I don’t think they know how to go about getting that dollar either. Get your popcorn ready and enjoy the show.
