Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

chances of getting a raise this or next quarter?

what do you all think about that with how the company is currently looking like?

haven't gotten or inquired about a raise in the 2.5 years I have been here

There are many that have not had raises in 5, 6, 7 years.

Union workers need not apply. Their union has their backs.

The Unions are in managements back pocket.

Considering that on April 2,2024, Lumen filed for Chapter 11 protection, I’d say the chance of a raise is slim.

If youre a full time employee take advantage of the Certification reimbursement plan Lumen offers. You can take a class up to like 5k (no travel) as long as the cert is in their list in successfactors. I took one last year. If they wont give you a raise, make them pay another way...and make yourself more marketable for your next job in the process.

Was this a serious question? A raise from a company that's going bankrupt?

I'll be honest, I have worked here almost 25 years and the number of years I got any raise, usually something below the yearly inflation rate, was 2 or 3 times total. Legacy USWEST,Q side.

So while things are tough now, its been this way for some time, at least where I have worked. Negotiate an increase when you change positions, as its about the only time you can.

Meanwhile everything under the sun has gotten way more expensive.

Sorry saps, there will be no raises. But maybe they'll sprinkle some of that magical Microsoft pixie dust on the remaining employees.

You're still here 2.5 years without a raise. The guy below is going on 7.5 years without one. That's the rationale, from HR's perspective, for why they aren't handing raises out. They don't need to.

Su-ks, but there it is.

Company is trying to get rid of people to cut on expenses. Forget about raise, you will be lucky just to keep your job lmao

We used to get yearly raises. The Scott Terize the HR head stopped yearly merit raises and said something like your bosses will give you raises if its warranted. I know of NO ONE in my group who's gotten a raise in half a decade.
You want a raise? Walk into your bosses office like its the 1960s and ask for a raise...but you better have a good reason and tears in your eyes, because that's the only way you'll get one.
This place is an emotionally defeating place to work in. And they really dont care....although they talk a good game make you believe they do. Its pretty much indentured servitude until you decide to leave.

With all those taking the EOI and all who get. Well that work is going to be dumped on those who remain and do not think you will get a raise. Just more work
