Thread regarding 3M layoffs

What will be Mikey's final salvo? Layoffs?

The Roman Empire will be exiting stage left on April 30th to make room for BIG Bad Bill Brown to work his magic.

3Ms final earning call is later this month. These are often the times when companies announce massive layoffs to please Wall Street.

Even a knucklehead can figure that Mikey will go out with a bang and announce something "big" and then let Brownie take the credit while Peter gets to do the dirty work.

To celebrate his last day as CEO, he announced that they're cutting the dividend. Way to stick that dagger in and twist it around one last time, Mike!

Watch for yet another doubling down on cutting expenses and even less investment in improvements and innovation.

Mikey is still touring labs in Maplewood. VPs are busy this week arranging for show and tell shows. What a circus it has become these days 😭

Roman's not doing sh*t other than introducing Brown to key customers and Wall Street analysts (maybe at the house 3M keeps in Augusta while entertaining big shots at the Masters). There are no more decisions for him to make other than how to spend his monthly $165,000 pension.

It will look a lot like GE after they spun off their HC business and retained 19.9%. Coincidence? Next comes the split where RemainCo follows GE model. Perhaps a few quarters to get divisions where they want them for the final spin/breakup. We are following GE, so we know the playbook, and that is why Bill Brown and not a younger successor. All points in the same direction. Q2, perhaps a last cut announcement, strung out a quarter or two - trust nothing at this point, there is no turnaround— SORRY

Mikey gets to enjoy the $100,000,000 compensation package that he's received over past 5 years as CEO. How's that?

That won’t happen. Nothing dramatic will be announced.
