This company will literally promote the most unskilled people imaginable because their grandaddy worked in Findlay while ignoring people with real talent that don’t line up like yes men.

Many other jobs available as long as you are willing to relocate. Keeping a clean and honest approach to the work one chooses sure gives a good night's sleep. Loss of one job to cheaters/bubba clubbers can spring one forward to the best job ever.

Another sign to look for is who is the boss golfing with? Some little cheaters take up the game solely to nudge in and move up the ladder especially if they have no other true skills to offer the company,
Not just family ties. I know someone who got promoted many times past their level of competence because they socialized and endeared themselves to the bigwigs. They weren’t related but they took trips with and routinely had dinner and drinks with senior leadership. It’s all a big game and you only win if you’re willing to play.
I see it at my location. Mommy/daddy, son/daughter, uncle, cousin, best friend, etc. They often bring the family member into the company and make it appear that the nepotistic hire is a normal employee. As the months go on, the nepotistic hire begins receiving temp assignments and promotions. Then the veil is lifted and that kid has surpassed you in your career!
The person best qualified for the job be it a man or a woman should get the job not who belongs to the local men only bubba club. Experience, education. skills should be the focus and not who flashes the club ring on their right hand. Cheaters never win in the end, always better to just be an honest person.
the secret handshake, flash of the ring, symbols around political courthouses and foreign countries get them all that is worldly but they can never escape and be "free" of it all. better to lose a job to them than be one of them.

The 'Worldly Pass" is given to those who choose to sell their own soul to the secret/not so secret societies for the best jobs, business opportunities, politics etc. while hear on earth. However this is Not a Heavenly pass at all. The word free over the door to these groups fools many precious souls. A job received by "ill-gotten" cheating is a lie and no liars will make into Heaven.
This is rampant. Try working at a plant where there is unethical hiring on every single job post and no one in HR will do anything bc of the buddy system between all the senior leaders. If you socialize with big dogs outside of work you can do no wrong. Go look at recent another post on this site about hiring and promotions . This has been going on a long time
Even as troubling as this practice is, the same holds true for the contractors awarded work for TARs. A market solicitation was quite a rare situation while I was with MPC. Someone knew someone or worse yet, someone was related to someone was the only basis upon which award to a specific contractor was based. At the very least, not fiduciary responsible manner by which to spend MPC money (and sometimes not a workplace safety way either).
Yes half the company must get together at holidays. It’s a shame and for those of us not part of “the family “ well we should understand we aren’t going anywhere in this company.
