Executive pay on 2024 proxy statement

Latest proxy statement is on the Schwab website. I can't quite understand how any of the Executives got a pay increase. Although none received cash bonuses they were certainly compensated well in stock and options for one of the worst years. I can't believe Charles Schwab gets a salary.

are you stupid? That’s a rhetorical question of course it’s their fault if they threw all their eggs in one basket when interest rates were as low as they were and didn’t understand the potential risk of rising interest rates they should be freaking fired. they didn’t even think about hedging. What a stupid comment obviously by a person that was a major in economics or probably one of the executives on the board. My money is on Lisa Hunt.

if you are using money to invest in the market, which includes the rates market and you lose money as an asset manager what happens? You get fired these id--ts kept their jobs and fired a lot of people and destroyed a lot of lives. They are fu--ing disgraceful.

"TD owns more shares and the responsibility is to all shareholders"

The way I understand it is... the only reason Ameritrade is gone is because TD was trying to ra-e its other shareholders and Tim Hockey stood up to them.

Chuck holds less than 12% of the company. TD owns more shares and the responsibility is to all shareholders, not Chuck.

Saying it’s his company is both wrong and flawed.

Over the past 5 years (check prior filings) our executives pay increase pool has averaged 3x that of the rest of the company

How can they justify that?

Chuck should get whatever he wants. It’s his company. I figure the founder deserves whatever. He-l, I’d be okay with a hot fudge sundae delivered nightly on a silver platter on the companies dime.

The others…should have taken a pay cut or 0% increase. But that’s not the real world.

In January 2023, the Compensation Committee approved an increase in base salary for Mr. Crawford by $25,000 (3.6%), for Mr. Martinetto by $25,000 (2.8%), for Mr. Wurster by $100,000 (11.1%), and for Mr. Schwab by $100,000 (12.5%). The Compensation Committee made no other adjustments to base salary for the NEOs in 2023.

Yes, billionaire Charles Schwab got a base salary increase of 12.5%. He's worth $10.3 billion according to Forbes. In other words, that $100,000 is change in the sofa of his Carmel house. Maybe one of the others. And the firm paid Semler Brossy to help guide such a difficult decision. Chuck has 107 million shares. The firm could collapse and he'd still have double Taylor Swift.

You can read the rest of the report. Or safely assume it will pi-s you off if you know anyone who was valuable and ejected or got a mediocre raise. It's one thing to build a company and reap the rewards. It's another to build a company and ra-e the workers.

Are you surprised?? I'm sure they think they've done a great job. Afterall, it was the Fed's fault for raising rates so quickly, not theirs.
