Additional reflections and advice:
You’re going to be okay. It sounds cliche, but getting let go was the best thing that happened to me. You will find a new job, direction, purpose.

HR and management do not care about you. PepsiCo is dog eat dog. Each person for themselves.

No one cares about PepsiCo products outside PepsiCo. We talk to ourselves and believe PepsiCo is the center of the Universe. It’s not. You’ll be surprised and freed when you step away from the cult.

Reflections and Advice After a Layoff:

HR's role during layoffs can feel more aligned with company interests (in this case, PepsiCo) than employees'. Their job replacement support might not meet your expectations, and they often won't provide reasons for individual layoffs.

In right-to-work states like Texas, once a layoff decision is communicated, it's usually final.

Severance packages can offer a financial cushion. While it might be tempting to take a break, consider diving into the job search immediately due to the high demand for workers in many sectors.

It's natural to feel angry and betrayed after a layoff. Channel these emotions into your job search rather than letting them strain your personal relationships.

Job Search Tips:

Utilize local resources, like Facebook community pages, for support and networking.

Create or update your LinkedIn profile with a clear title (e.g., "Project Manager: Seeking New Opportunities"), a concise introduction, and a focused resume. Limit your resume to the most recent 10 years of your career.

Engage with reputable recruiters. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Next Step Recruiting is highly recommended for their proactive approach.

Move forward without dwelling on the past. Many find that they're happier after leaving a challenging work environment.

For Current Employees:

Be aware of the company's history of regular layoffs. Expect to work harder, potentially for the same compensation.
Your experience offers a valuable perspective for anyone facing or navigating a layoff. Your advice to use the momentum of the situation to propel oneself into new opportunities is particularly powerful.

I got the scoop, this is how it's going to happen: they search your profile and if you have added pronouns, you're good to go. If you haven't followed played along, you're a target.

It’s going to be a long week, it’s awful, it’s exhausting, it’s sad. Just know there is nothing you can do about it.

Seems like it's different every year. I had directs that were laid off out from under me years ago. They each pinged me when a meeting showed up on their calendar with 15-30 minutes notice. I was obviously not notified ahead of time and I was instructed to not contact them until they were escorted out of the building. Had to say goodbye by phone later that day. I've been ready for my call ever since.

Today was more about cascading the changes to higher-ups.

The harvest begins tomorrow - figure done by Wednesday, and “all clears” on Thursday.

That’s just in generalities - don’t hold me to EXACT particulars there.

I was part of the mass team layoff- What is being said here is true. You're meat to them or less. I was part of the team meeting with HR cc'ed on the email. I knew what was coming. They read from a script. No QA. Call dropped. I tried to reach back to my HR Rep for help/clarification/what's next. Never got a response.

I started asking PepsiCo for mental assistance...psychologist. I could have either shown up at HQ and gone postal or put myself out terminally. They didn't care one bit. NO RESPONSE AT ALL. F***ing one smile with every bite my a$$.

When I was hit during last round of layoffs it was similar to what you see this time around: Everyone was told to work from home for the week.

On Tuesday morning of that week at ~7:30AM I had a nebulous "required Zoom meeting" that I should "prioritize above all else" put on my calendar with HR and my supervisor for 10:00AM that same day. No details were provided in the body of the invite. Naturally, I knew what was coming and they put me out of my misery at that time. HR was stoic and heartless and my supervisor did their best to feign empathy when they couldn't care less.

My understanding is that meetings like these occurred throughout the week. I was "lucky" to get a 1:1 canning but there were some teams that were laid off in mass in a super impersonal manner. IIRC these mass layoffs happened later in the week.
