Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco is dead

Long live Cisco. Amen.

And if your last day is April 15, good luck and god bless. I’m with you, literally and figuratively.

If you're just looking to collect a paycheck, Cisco could be a good place for you to hang out for a few years. They're too big to fail at this point so, if you can find a way to stay away from constant layoffs, you can spend a few years here before moving on. It all depends upon your current personal goals.

However, if you're hoping to build a strong career in the technology that businesses are going to want to buy over the next several years, there are many better places to work.

Good luck in making your personal decision!

If ya such big hitters go leave and close da door on way out.

Many of us did leave, and therefore know what we are talking about in terms of risks at Cisco and opportunities elsewhere. Since Cisco still has so many naive people here who think each round that "Cisco is about to have its first layoff! Whatever shall we do?" we're trying to help them understand the world they live in and what their options are. For some, moving on to the next step is the right answer. For others, Cisco may be the right place to be for now. It's no where near as good as the happy pill people think, nor is it "dead."

What a load of losers taking da paycheck and moaning on these sites. If ya such big hitters go leave and close da door on way out. Go go go. What sort of sc-m hangs around like a bad smell when they are clearly such guru’s and know it all, go leave and get peace in ya life peeps.

Cat OP knows Schrödinger's cat was a mockery of quantum effects at a macro scale. I'm looking forward to your peer reviewed paper on quantum effects on an international company of close to 88,000 employees.

Here is another Cat analogy very suitable for a “Cisco is dead” thread. Schroedinger’s cat: the cat is dead and alive . Which one is it? I guess the OP figured that out . The rest of the Cisco s-ckers following the Pied Piper’s “Best place to work” BS mantra will need to learn how to solve Schroedinger’s equation, the time dependent one. All the best.

Cisco died more than half a dozen cats and yet it still persists. (I don't know if the joke about cats living nine lives is universal, but it's a thing in the US.)

It's a whirlwind of hurt when it's happening, but most of us in the 10,000s who have been laid off in previous rounds at Cisco found ourselves better off in the long run.

Mismanagement is nearly universal, but there are companies with competent people who find a way to band together and do a great job - none of the Lord Chambers' "don't fall into the trap of helping other people" even when helping others is part of your corporate job description.

“Change” is fine as long as employees get their lives disrupted for no fault of their own...

Ignoring the sarcasm of the full quote, disease, accidents, intentional acts, etc... affecting/caused-by family, friends, coworkers, other random people, governments at every level including those in other countries, etc... can not only "disrupt" but leave you suffering for years to the rest of your life. Even as an atheist I understand the less divine interpretation of "there but for the grace of God go I."

For most a layoff is short term pain, and having survived it many not only gain confidence knowing it's something one can get through, but gain competence by knowing they have to proactively grow their skills and professional networks.

Back to the cat analogy, you're indoor cats now, and you get to live an average of 12-18 years instead of being torn apart and eaten by 2-3 like a feral cat. The only things that are guaranteed in life are death, taxes, disappointment and future regret.

Did you not know that “Change is the only constant”. “Change” is fine as long as employees get their lives disrupted for no fault of their own and the incompetent SE leader in the UKI and his partner in crime VP hold on to their jobs via political management tactics. They can then continue to jive about the what a “Best Place to work” Cisco UKI is.
