Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Nice office

Each time I pass by Quarry Park I see this nice office. I’m a Finance professional who lives closeby. I wish Imperial could change its “imperial” hiring practices. Why I can’t get a job there unless I’m a student of a wealthy family?

I didn't work with Finance, but I did work with engineering.
If you are an outside contractor, you can get your foot in the door that way. Make Contacts, and if they like you and position comes up, they may call you in.

However, it's been over 4 years from when I did work there. If you read through the comments on various topics, you will see the work environment has deteriorated over the years. Everything is being offshored to India and other countries.

It's funny in a way. We have record high immigration while we offshore our jobs.
Don't expect CBC, CTV, Global, or any other media outlet to tell you what is going on. That's the world we live in.

That's not the way the world works. There are thousands of "Finance professionals" apply there every year. Just because you live close by doesn't give you much of an advantage.
Lot's of other companies to apply to. Just apply to them.

I worked at ExxonMobil in 90s and always thought that Imperial has very imperial policies and poor corporate culture. This impression I had aftet I met few folks from Imperial at Woodlands camp for Innet training.

Don’t bother, nothing is good there. Corporate culture is bad
