Quiet layoff

Some folks were let go 2weeks back , they are folks who are close to retirement , folks who have been with the company since Day 1. Loyalty does not matter …

Folks were from the Malta site

Talk about loyalty. Loyalty to getting paycheck for not doing any work. Full of leeches, lazy people

Loyalty is a cost to GF

This is all part of a master plan. TB (consultant to the CEO and spy for Mubadala) who is really pulling TC's strings has openly said in meetings, engineers are just widgets, if I can get 5 for the price of 1 in Bulgaria then hire 3 in Bulgaria and take the savings. It is all about reducing costs and nothing about being leaders/differentiation. When you continuously hire new hires in low-cost geos you never develop leadership skills. Yes, your overall costs will go down but at the price of losing your leadership. The RF business is a prime example at GF. IBM handed GF a thriving business in the RF area, 19 of 20 of the leading front-end switch/cell phone companies were using GF silicon. Now in 90nm we are playing catch-up with UMC over things like switch stacking. It is crazy how much the leadership team focused on the company's short-term financials so their RSUs and stock options cashed in at high value at the expense of not investing in the future, now the lack of investment is catching up and GF has no leadership technologies, the staff is dominated by low-cost geo newbies and the future looks horrible for the company. Keep outsourcing skills and reducing your overall skill base and falling further behind the competition GF, listening to TB and his minion TC is ki-ling the company!!!

Outsourcing is a thing.

As a 26 year employee between IBM and gf it's time to face the music, gf su-ks at best.
Run by a loser ex ibmer Tom Cowfield. No sense or future outlook. To bad but our stocks will soon be below the initial offering.
It's time for him to be ousted along with all the senior management team period.

Yes, I’m also aware of a few quiet layoffs in a few areas in Malta. Some seems justified others - not, if you think dedicated reliable competent employees in Malta should not be let go of in exchange for cheaper skilled labor in GF Bangalore and Bulgaria sites.
Notice NCG postings for “analysts” in GSM went live today.
GF wants to pay 46k starting salary to a Bach in business with no work experience for Global Supply Mgmt? Great deal for those new grads living at home.
Anyone with actual experience and loyalty to the company /high performer looking to move within GF? Forget about it. If you’re asking for more $ than they get for someone to sit in a seat, be complacent and accepting of whatever they’re asked to do, why would they hire anyone but an NCG or outsource?
Time to wake up to spring layoff time. At least it’s not Christmas again.

GF should be held accountable for every penny of government (taxpayer dollars) money.
Working here since they took over IBM they have made a habit and culture of lies.
Silent layoffs have been going on a wile here at fab9, pretty much plant wide except for the fab in most cases. I have a friend that was hit in Dec 2023. A top performer always.
I would tell him he was too loyal to look around and see what is happening. He would just laugh and say I go above and beyond and was not worried. Needless to say he sees gf differently now. Too bad they lost a good loyal employee.

I gave GF 8 years. They let me go back in March of 2023. It was a blessing in disguise. I am now working in a new industry, for a company with a good culture and work environment. GF chews people up and spits them out.

You beat me to it. If the stock drops anymore and below IPO the layoffs will not be so silent any longer.

Sadly, there will be more to come…. To put it lightly the company isn’t doing too great. Tomorrow the shares will be under $50 in a record setting booming economy.

Yes quiet ones are occurring. This is due to chips act money - such layoffs conflict with the propaganda messaging gf is putting out regarding obtaining these funds
