Lay offs today IT full time

Probably laying off people making 150k and hiring people making 70k
Why are they laying off yet have postings for new jobs? And have other folks apparently waiting to hear back from interviews from Jan/feb?
Word is they’ll start this week.
@the contingent worker. Sorry to hear that you will be losing your job. Did TIAA give you a final date? Did you hear anything about Recording Keeping Service (ROSS) being Outsourced to another company?

I was unfortunately one of the contractors (contingent workers) that was told Wednesday March 27th that I was going to be impacted due to a layoff. My vendor gave me further insight that that they are looking to move a large part of their workforce to India as they just partnered up with a company at an excellent rate so they will be saving a ton.
TIAA in the last year has spun up many pod teams in india so this was inevitable. I knew this was probably gonna happen at some point but not this early. Anyone on the IT side (especially Dev, QA, Admin, support, etc), will be impacted. From what i gathered from that call, they will use the existing Full time folks to train their replacement over the next 6 months.
If I'm not mistaken...I heard Marketing late last year and packages were offered.
What departments have already experienced layoffs? Were severance packages offered?
Yes. I'm now hearing an announcement happening within a few weeks. I just want it over with so we know if a severance package will be offered, Outsourced , layoffs etc.
