Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

Former Trilogy folks, how do you list your employment on a background check?

So, after being laid off, I finally landed a role. But I am worried about the background check. When I started, I started with Trilogy and at some point (don't remember the exact date) my paychecks started to say 2U.

In addition, when I look back my job title changed multiple times.

So how do you list that on a background check? Do I have to try to remember each company and job title and list those separately? Or is it enough to simply list the current name 2U/edX? I need this job and I don't want to fail!

I think I listed everything as 2U but my resume stated that Trilogy was bought by 2U in 2019. I also explained it to hiring managers. But the BG I got was strictly criminal. The only place I was picky was my global entry renewal because I couldn't "explain" so I put Trilogy to April 2019 then 2U and it was fine.

Depends on the organization. When I started at bank of america, they needed my history exactly for the last 10 years. They were confirming everything was truthful. Other organizations just do background on criminal.

I listed mine as 2U and it went through but emailing them in advance won't hurt just to be sure

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think that background checks get into employment like that, I think they typically look at criminal and financial history. You typically provide your work history and references yourself.

I’m sure they can see/ know of takeover history in HR with available tools.

Don't over think it. You could say that you worked for "Trilogy/2u" or just 2u. If your concerned about it, email the company and let them know that the last company you worked for was acquired. Congrats OP!
