If you’ve left a bad review on Glassdoor, you may want to delete your account

This information is from an article I pulled up today. Be careful when posting anything on the internet on any site. At anytime they can change their rules in privacy or the site could be hacked and user information made public.

A recent change in Glassdoor’s system could potentially put targets on employees who use its website to anonymously leave a bad review about an employer.
A user of the platform, who used the pseudonym "Monica", has flagged in a blog post that Glassdoor is now requiring users to add their real names to their accounts and will do so without the users’ permission.
“Glassdoor now requires your real name and will add it to older accounts without your consent if they learn it, and your only option is to delete your account,” she wrote. “They do not care that this puts people at risk with their employers. They do not care that this seems to run counter to their own data-privacy policies.” Monica claimed in the post that when she created her Glassdoor account 10 years ago, it was only required for her to provide an email address. She then said that after she recently reached out to Glassdoor’s support team for an “account-related issue,” she responded to an email from the company regarding the issue which she claims was a “big mistake.”
“After I responded to that support email last week, I found that they had updated my profile to add my real name and location, the name pulled from the email "From" line I didn't think to cloak because who does that?” she wrote. “I never gave consent for that change, and said so explicitly when I objected.”

The major takeaway here is that you need to protect yourself going forward when making online comments that UP might take exception to. There are easy ways to do this. PAST posts, using emails tied to REAL names could prove problematic and caution should be used.

If you are an active employee, you can be disciplined or fired for posting negatively about your company on social media. The courts have upheld this premise, regardless of how privacy laws. I know employees that were fired for negative Facebook posts, so this is no different. UP monitors for social media postings about the company, so be careful if you are still an active employee.

Why delete it? What can they do with that information? Find the laid off people and bring them back, so they can lay them off again to teach them a lesson? I have to agree with the first poster on this one. Any site giving or selling information to a third party is a no-no! Especially without the account owners consent. What is the UP trying to hide? Or a better question is what is Vena trying to hide? Vena has a dark past. Vena is the reason the UP is falling apart AGAIN. The STB is already crawling allover the UP for staffing issues, and the FRA is right there with them. Vena was the main cause for congressional and the STB hearings. His decisions as the COO, blew the place up. For 9 years now, the UP has been in a downward spiral. Fritz and Vena, right along with the executives are to blame for all of it. If the hearings do get rescheduled, Vena will be the one answering questions this time. So Vena may not have something hide, but he does have something to avoid. If you keep the employees happy, then the employees will keep the customers happy. You can't layoff or fire thousands of employees, and honestly expect them to stay quiet about being let go. If the UP wants my name, they already have it! I will not stay quiet, and I will defend the very people who were unfairly let go from this company.

I really fail to see the urgency of this post. Alot of people that have left bad reviews of the company, have already left the company. Yeah I think it's a BS tactic some social media sites are doing for transparency purposes, but why? If the UP is actively engaging in ways to find people's real names, then it might be worth while to find out if privacy laws are being broken. The UP doesn't own glass door. Therefore they can't insist on the moderators of any social media site divulging that information without breaking privacy laws. That IS basic law by the way. I hope the UP is on a crusade to find the people leaving bad reviews. The truth su-ks and it will show just how far they'll go to hide it.
