Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Texas Unemployment

Hi - Was anyone else denied unemployment until after the severance end date?
Example :
Last Day : Jan 1st
Business Days of Severance : 60

So they've been denied until one week and 60 business days?

I've received since mid jan. They ask if you received any money on the weeks you're applying for. The severance was paid jan 8 so the answer is "no".
You must have misunderstood the questions and declared something the wrong way.
BTW, they checked with schwab on my layoff circumstances so all checked fine.

I came to the conclusion that Schwabbies are mostly unimpressive persons.

Unemployment is easy. Sign up. Argue. Argue more. Get yours.

Too many losers with good college grades at this firm. College is increasingly for losers and corporate Americans.

At Schwab people take cr-p and don't argue. Thus why the firm su-ks so hard.

I spoke with someone this week, that's why they denied it. The TWC rep had me read my severance info.

@OP no, I'm getting paid since J5. The lump sum does not affect the unemployment insurance.

In Texas, the lump sum severance shouldn’t matter for eligibility, just that you’re not currently receiving any income from Schwab. OP should call TWC and speak to a person.

Some that were layed off received severance that amounted to 8 months worth of salary, plus the 60 days you remained on payroll. They effectively got 1 year of salary. Not to mention the 73% of ABO target bonus paid out. This defeats the purpose of getting unemployment insurance right?
