Thread regarding SAS Institute layoffs

As Bugs Bunny would say...

Har dee har har har!

(From a SAS job listing)

Diverse and Inclusive
At SAS, it’s not about fitting into our culture – it’s about adding to it. We believe our people make the difference. Our diverse workforce brings together unique talents and inspires teams to create amazing software that reflects the diversity of our users and customers. Our commitment to diversity is a priority to our leadership, all the way up to the top; and it’s essential to who we are. To put it plainly: you are welcome here.

At SAS, it's not about fitting into our culture - it's about adding to it.... Oh come on. Who are you trying to fool with this pablum? This place is all about lock-step fealty. There's no adding to it, there's only orders passed down from management.

We believe our people make the difference.... Yes, if by "your people", you mean those related to JG. Then yes, they are "your people". Otherwise, more pablum.

Our diverse workforce brings together unique talents and inspires teams to create amazing software that reflects the diversity of our users and customers...Amazing according to who? No one buys software to reflect diversity, they buy it to solve business problems and add value to their business.

Our commitment to diversity is a priority to our leadership, all the way up to the top; and it’s essential to who we are. To put it plainly: you are welcome here...What a load of feel good cr-p. I never felt welcome there. Older, experienced people aren't welcome there.

C'mon SAS Recruiting, are you lying to us or lying to yourselves with this nonsense?

Imagine thinking "woke females" have the power to drive the narrative at SAS or anywhere else - trust me the world (and your lawn) is still safe for old white men.

@OP+1rE9MNgy, you weren't made to feel welcome because of your terrible negative attitude

Of late it has become popular to blame older white people (especially men) for nearly all societal problems in the USA and major parts of Europe. Is it any surprise that young woke “early career” HR (almost exclusively female) would create a narrative distancing SAS from the older white folk (a lot of whom are men) whose contributions significantly built the company?

Diversity and inclusion has never been Corporate Americas goal. Profits has and always will be. No need to have a diverse workforce if profits are in the billions with the same old, same old people in place. SAS only wants people who fit their mold. Be passive and a "yes" person. Don't ruffle feathers. Keep your head down and keep on the payroll. Diversity disrupts this. Those who have tried to bring about meaningful change have either left for better work environment or, if they are still there, stopped trying all together. Having a few people of color (and all male) or a sprinkle of women in senior leadership as pawns and tokens doesn't actually mean any change. Soon they'll get tired of being the only few and move on to better opportunities and pay.
