Happened to me. Zero support from HR. They just cite business changing needs. Seems like a lawsuit but they know better and how to avoid one. Don’t be surprised when you get below target. Then they seal the deal and anything you have goes poof. To make it worse they know how to play the game and are one step ahead AT ALL times. As if they have a script and manual to follow.

This happened to my teammate. They were on medical and while they were out I was doing both our jobs which wasn’t easy. Management decided that since I was managing the workload they were going to eliminate their position. Luckily when their medical leave was over they were able to find an open position within Ford. Within a few months I started looking for a new position because keeping up with two positions was not sustainable.
Hey, may I remind you that one not needs to be a woman to give birth - have you not paid attention.

My wife was on the day she returned. It’s legal.
I do know 1 LL6 that was on FMLA during the cuts. He was let go the day he returned to work.
They can eliminate the position, but you can't be separated until you return from leave. It does happen, particularly in the large department fittings over the past few years. Leaves do not make you immune to layoffs.
Oh yes, all the time. EEOC and sue!
