Someone said 24 people were laid off yesterday - along with the 17 last year, that’s a huge reduction for Education - anyone know if the latest batch was mainly senior level folks?

Wake Tech still teaches SAS, although there is a rumor that it is slowly changing over to R and Python. Former SAS instructors teach analytics there.
Exactly... no more instructors, just content developers. For the few customers that do want 'instructor' lead training, it will go through Customer Success. There will be NO delivery side of education sooner than later - maybe next March??? Just JM's team will survive.
I imagine the poster below means that they will get rid of all instructors and only have course developers

Two instructors were laid off, in addition to the entire technical editing team, a couple ppl from curriculum consulting (e-leading), 1 person from GAP, and not sure what other teams. 24 ppl were not laid off.. 24 ppl were either laid off or moved to a different group. Major reorg... a senior director that had many levels (maybe totally 70
Ppl) reporting to him, now has 1 group with maybe 20 ppl. Education will eventually be all on demand with no instructors.
To sustain an education department, there must be revenue that is created by selling the content. But, there is so much free content on the Tube, that former buyers are now just watching free videos instead.
Is there not enough education on it?
If the training materials are unclear or non-existent, why lay off from Education?
Of course those comments were tongue-in-cheek. Accomplishing legitimate operational goals requires a metrics and accountability-based culture. SAS is a cult-ure based on personality politics and Montessori work products.

Ever since V9 was put out to pasture, Education is left to ride the coat tails of Viya demand. Falling Viya demand = falling Education demand. Sad but true reality.

The software is so well-designed, intuitive, and easy to use now that SAS no longer needs an Education division. Soon, they won't need a Customer Support division either, because the company has a thorough process for measuring, evaluating, and categorizing Customer Support inquiries, tying them back to product issues, and then designing, testing, and validating the effectiveness of those fixes with actual user populations. If you don't believe me, just ask the person in charge. Because they're so nice, I'm sure they'll be happy to answer all your questions! Just be sure to compliment them on how pretty the applications are -- it will really make their day.
Of course the demand for SAS Eduction has declined!

Mostly senior level in technical editing and various supporting staff roles. No course developers or instructors that I'm aware of.
Coupled with an IC promotion freeze, the writing on the wall is clear if you're in Education. Not getting fired is the new promotion.

Demand for SAS Institute supplied classes has declined because SAS Institute is doing an ever increasingly worse job of listening to what customers
want. No big surprise as the company as a whole seems he-l bent on producing EXPENSIVE stuff that customers walk away from.
Getting back to SAS education providers, pocket players like Destiny Inc. will contine to reap the benefits of the SAS Education department's poor decisions.
It is painful to watch gravity pull former greatness down to mere mediocrity. What SAS has become is hardly anything to be proud of.

There has been no clarification about if it's education or customer success. Are those the same thing now? I know people in customer success who were let go but don't know if it was whole teams or what. They aren't people I know well so I can't contact them to ask which would be rude anyway. putting their names or initials here would probably get this deleted.
