I didn't realize LinkedIn had gone so downhill until I started getting so many scam offers. Please, everybody, be careful who you respond to. Research the recruiter before you do anything and be certain that the number you were sent really belongs to them. It's sad how many scammers are trying to take advantage of people at their most vulnerable.

...and be aware that LinkedIn does little / nothing if you report the scammers. I've had fake profiles with (literally) dead Chinese executives reach out to me. It often takes 3 or 4 reports before LinkedIn takes down the scammers. Also check the photo on the profile of whoever approaches you. There are a few image search programs out there that can help you identify scams. Most of the fakes grab photos off the web.
