Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

The past, the present, the future

Chuck and Fran took their current roles here at Cisco in 2015.

There were layoffs before 2015, there are layoffs now and there will be layoffs after them.

Layoffs are in Cisco's DNA. Who seriously believes in change?

@1lxy+1r9uzAno Agreed. Chuck was asked for our growth areas today and he listed every single thing we make. So the resurrecting was just a BS story for Wall Street? If everything is a priority, nothing is. Remember when we needed a whole giant slide deck to tell people what Cisco does? (From Gerry). Time for a break up.

Cisco leaders need to give their people a vision of the future, badly.

What are we? Where are we going? What is important to focus on?

No one knows. Perhaps it's time someone steps up with some good ideas.

Cisco style report chain: xVP>VP>VP; senior Director>Director>Director... Do you believe the LR targets better operation?

If Chuck and Fran were actual CxO material, nine years was plenty of time for them to figure out what markets were growth opportunities for Cisco and to align resources to properly attack them.

They weren't, and they didn't.

The only change I know is that I used to know what the company goal was and tried to align with that goal. Initially, it was to beat 3COM and Bay Networks, later was Lucent and Nortel, then was Juniper, ...etc. Today I really don't know what I am doing. The worst part is that I have to pretend that I know. When the company survey comes, I always give 5 stars to everything that was questioned. I have long learned is that nothing is wrong with the company. If something is wrong, then you are the culprit. Chuck is the emperor without clothes.

Correct. No one believes that the current elt will do anything that will result in no layoffs in order meet profitability numbers other than cost cutting measures. Zero focus on making better products.
