Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I wish we would start focusing on what customers want once again

We seem to be prioritizing everything else these days...

"Young people can't afford to buy new vehicles anymore. Especially I'd they're also trying to pay for college."

I am so tired of hearing this excuse. I bought my kids their first cars when they turned 16 and again when they graduated from college - I also paid for their college.

What we need is for most of your kids to go into the skilled trades. College isn't for everyone - and that includes people who can't afford it, even if they are otherwise 'smart' enough. But in the trades, they'll be able to start earning money right now and buy nice entry level vehicles.

Trades people, even young people, don't want or need fancy tech. They just want affordable and reliable transportation like our Ford Maverick.

You must be drinking the coolaid. My college age children wanted to drive and have the freedom that having a car provides when in high school. They do not want to rent cars when needed. There is no win for customers or ford if you cannot afford vehicle ownership. Go spread your propaganda somewhere else.

Ford Motor is a political company not a automobile company.

Most young people today don't want (or can't afford) to buy a new vehicle.

Ford will make very expensive and very high tech mobility solutions available for these young people to rent whenever they need them.

It will be a win-win for youth and Ford.

OP has the wrong message. Stripped down basic transportation is not what today's modern mobility customer seeks. The data doesn't lie. Customer want is high tech, safe, clean sustainable mobility with delightful modern features and services. Rest assured, our next generation products will answer the demand on target.

I agree. My old F-150 had a keypad code to get in, which I loved. My new F-250 doesn't have the keypad. Ford Pass s*cks. I went on vacation for a week. After coming back, I tried to get my F-250 started with Ford Pass and, nothing. My keys were locked in the truck as I trusted Ford Pass to unlock the truck. According to the manual, the vehicle goes into a deep sleep if not used in 14 days (this was only 7). I had to take a Lyft home from the airport to get my spare key. Now I have to carry my key with me.

Customers do not want enough EV’s to make producing them profitable. The narrative has failed. Anybody else notice that the EV Proponent In Chief never sold his 67 Corvette ?

When did Ford focused on what customer wants?

The customers don't want Ford EV. Ford is still making EVs that people don't want and dealers can't sell.

Customers wants hybrids, Ford slowly making more hybrids. Ford is way behind the Asian competitors. 5 years behind.

Customers wants good quality and reliable vehicles. Ford don't care. Just build them and people will buy when we put a discount price on them.

According to sales figures, it seems most customers want the F150, regardless of the quality. So I think Ford builds what the customer wants, the failure is making them as profitable as they could be since we have to continually repair these things after they leave the factory floor.
