That's ummm... That's not how taxes work friend. We have progressive tax brackets and only the amount of income in each bracket is taxed at the brackets rate. So if you made $200k in 2023
$11k is taxed at 10%
$33k is taxed at 12%
$52k is taxed at 22%
$82k is taxed at 24%
And the remaining $18k is taxed at 32%

The entire $200k doesn't get taxed at 32% now that your total income has reached that, bracket.

@7gum+1r9UxpNj Please learn how tax brackets work before complaining on the internet that you lost money due to a windfall.

DO YOUR MATH Oldtimers...I exited during the August RIF. I will credit Crown that they lived up to their end of the bargain, but I've been with Crown since the early 2000s which means I maxed out the severance, mistakenly had the max credit of PTO and a decent advance bonus. The payout in September was a chunk as the whole year of severance in advance was a substantial hit on SSI and federal withholding taking me into a much higher tax bracket for 2023. I realize it was a one-time deal but it was unexpected to pay a 50% more for 2023.

If their is another RIF coming down the pike pray that its sooner in the year for the tenured folks. Best of wishes to my Crownies...Your are the BEST!

Crown tends to let people go when they turn in notice but payout full notice. I know this to b true w both 30 day and 3 month notices.

They're paranoid.

@6sfv+1r9UxpNj I wouldn't trust CC to pay it... they might let you go the day you give notice and then you'd be sc--wed. If you already have another job lined up either push it back a week or quit CC without notice. Two weeks is just a courtesy and not a requirement.

“Does anyone know, if one were to give their two weeks notice with March 8 as their last day, would they still be receive their bonus?”

I know someone who did this last year. Their last day was on the day of bonus payout. They received their bonus in full.

Predicting a wave of quiet quitting while people apply post bonus. Low year and Bonuses will be down for years.

My last day is Friday. I got a great offer from a great company - 100% work from home. I will be leaving the bonus on the table. But, SO worth it. I'm so tired of worrying every day if this will be the day we get another end-of-day, life altering email.

If CC is causing a lot of stress in your life, you should do the same.

Good luck to you all.

There will certainly be more resignations after the bonus but probably not as many as you would think. If you’re still at Crown, you probably aren’t interested in leaving or are having trouble finding work outside the company. The telecom industry as a whole is suffering, moving to another telecom company is going to be difficult with the amount of applicants searching for work. Obviously there are departments whose jobs will be similar regardless of industry (examples are finance and IT) which will probably be easier to find than specifically telecom. If you get an opportunity to leave then run don’t walk. Best of luck to those who want out.
