Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Even more lies

A huge portion of my team is remote, including my direct manager. The reps impacted by RTO were told that reps in the remote positions would not have new roles opening, and not have the same level of career growth. A new manager position has opened up, and the remote reps are eligible for it. Thank you Schwab for really making sure trust is destroyed down to the last molecule!

Does anyone have any idea how many service reps (phones) were legacy San Diego TDA advisory svcs and are now 100% WFH? and Jersey City?

OP here, the remote positions are not exceptions, they are in closed locations. We have to come into team meetings where we all sit in office while our manager on a video screen from home tells us the benefits of in office. I personally know fellow reps who had family members with severe medical issues and have had their daily lives upended by RTO, their exceptions denied without a second thought. Our director had a meeting with the in office reps, in response to multiple complaints about the incredibly unfair situation they found themselves in. The primary response given by management was, in no uncertain terms, that by being the portion of the team that was to RTO, we are in a more advantageous career position. I am a firm believer in WFH and do not want to have anyones career curtailed their location, but I do not like being lied to, treated unfairly, and lectured to by a manager who sits in the comfort of their own home.

I’m not so sure it’s flat out lies. That doesn’t make any sense, no one wants to be called a liar right. More likely that there were scenarios introduced during COVID and WFH that decision makers are struggling to factor in when running the business now.

Not great to experience in the moment but sorta makes the case for getting people back into the offices more I think.

OP said impacted by RTO not by layoffs.
It is awkward for teams where some are remote (closed or downsized location) and others are stuck going in to take meetings in the office. Leadership probably lied to act like their planning made sense and is fair -that there's some advantage to working in office. There isn't and they lied.

Why would a laid off rep be told anything about what happens to those not laid off. I call BS.

Seems a good chunk of people here are CS&S and STS? Does a remote VP really care? How many SVP roles are there for a VP to advance in general? If you’re a phone rep working remote, sorry, but you got the short stick.

Being remote should not prevent career opportunities. However they should NOT have led you to believe that. Plus how did all those people in the same department get exceptions???
