FSO Layoffs

Rumored that FSO would be hit hard, but haven’t heard anything yet? Is the team just sitting ducks for when Splunk closes?

Unlikely. Layoffs in that sphere would be really odd. FSO is one of the few areas that Cisco has a good shot at majority market share and is doing fairly well in.

That and our recent investment in Splunk is geared towards making full stack observability even more robust. The integration between the three products - AppD, ThousandEyes, and Splunk - may have some overlap of employees between teams that would lead to a few folks being redundant, but the growth will likely stem most of that.

If anything, FSO is one of the few growth areas you could be fairly confident in keeping your job - if you're in that sphere.

AppD folks still have two email ids. They could not yet integrate the login. I wouldn't worry about Splunk for 5 years .

Not sure where you heard that. The various FSO BUs (AppD, TE) are making money and were already running fairly lean. We lost a few, but it wasn’t the bloodbath that many other areas experienced.

When Splunk comes on there will be overlap. As the products get integrated it should be pretty obvious who is able to learn the bigger platform and who can’t grow past their specialty. The question will be if management can see that and act appropriately. I’m not holding my breath.
