Thread regarding SAS Institute layoffs

Still WFH? How many are back at Cary HQ?

I recall many buildings feeling empty before Covid - partly because they overbuilt and the "office for everyone" made it feel closed off. SAS best perk for me was the campus so just curious if more staff are commuting again.

They're analyzing badge data to see how many times people are entering building, which leads to a grab a coffee and go mentality.

It must feel like slow death in there.

I fear that the employees reluctance to work on campus will only speed up SAS’ demise. It’s already happening. Closeness brings synergies not found at your house. Wake up.

Building A is mostly empty. The cafe is shut down. That might have been the biggest waste of money on campus.

It’s sort of hard to tell because to hold your office apparently you only need to come in twice a week. But I will say that when I’ve visited Bldg R (I’m retired), I’ve seen a great number of unassigned offices. And R was about half empty even before the pandemic.

I haven’t visited any other buildings, but keep in mind that F, H, and J are all devoid of SAS employees.
